What an odd assertion. When I was little, dinosaurs where strictly boy territory. Girls had their ponies. During breaks, much fun and annoyed whining was had with vivid descriptions of how T-Rex would rip apart and eat the horsies.
Note that the guy on the front of the T-Rex is shooting his green laser at an physically impossible angle. Not that it matters because HELLYEAHAWESOME.
Also, I hope that if GW ever does 40k dinosaurs, they stick to the reptilian image of our childhood. No pansy feathers and the like.

There's loads of "old boys" who raise poultry and birds (sadly in the UK not as many as there once were after several bird-flu scares and the rising price on grains - not to mention the problem that a lot of wood these days rots like crazy even if its "treated"). Or how about stable yards; or zoos. A good number of old zoos were started by the affluent of their day and that was often men collecting animals to show off. There's a whole slew of "Lion/Tiger/Bear/Horse/Dog men/whisperer TV shows all around. Need I also highlight pokemon which is, in digital form, basically the same idea of collecting critters.
Snails, moths, dogs, cats etc... I've honestly never really seen "animals" in general as an exclusively female thing. Granted there are some bias's at the professional end of things and I'd say women are more likely to be found on an animal care course than men at a college level; but there's plenty of male vets around. I'd say the only one that really has a powerful gender bias would be horse-riding which, in the UK at least, has a very heavy lean toward women, though I think its more by accident than any intention and now that its established itself like that its tricky to change. Of course in the same sporting circles something like racing is predominantly male jockeys.

You know science doesn't care what your childhood preferred right? Reality is dead to your wails of despair....
Being SciFi though, GW can easily ignore reality

Technicly my home is a 20k town, country side is 350m away from that. But now I live at the school dorms, so country side is a bit further. But we still get boar visits etc. People work with animals, but I wouldn't say that anyone who has to help milking 200 cows is very interested in animals in his or hers free time. Although with hers am just guessing here.

I have never seen guys like animals, maybe if they train dogs to sell or use them as a legal weapon. But again that is work. It is like liking a hatchet. Girls on the other hand seem to be emotional about animals, and really seem to like them a lot. At least at my age or under. No idea what older people do. I know adults general dislike animals.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain. |

I just don't think people really consider dinosaurs in the same category as animals as exist today. They have a mythical status, these gigantic beasts with teeth the size of your arm etc.
It's not really an emotional thing, let alone a gender thing. It's a raw "wow" thing that something like that could ever have existed.

Really, everybody can like everything, whatever floats your boat. Fixed gender roles are for geriatrics.

Geriatrics are old people. I was being dismissive of elder's opinions about culture, gender roles & identity, sexuality, etc.
Basically, likes and dislikes for adults are a factor of what they're introduced to as children, and what kids like is a product of what they're told they should like by their parents. And from the existence of things like "action figures", it's apparent that they're not actually that different, just marketing and cultural expectations.

That's a pretty funny picture.
That said, I think if they do they should definitely go with feathered dinosaurs over scaly dinosaurs. Feathered dinosaurs are pretty neat. Not all dinosaurs had feathers, though, just the carnivore ones I think. IIRC the herbivore ones had like armored bone plates and scales. I'm not a dinosaur expert though.
There are some toys that are definitely pretty unisex. Dinosaur playsets are one of them, like everybody had a dinosaur playset.
LEGOs, though, that's where the real fun began. I remember there was the LEGO theme with the radioactive dinosaurs, that had that big helicopter and the really cool tank with the giant railgun on top. And the dino's heads and limbs could come off, so they were always getting decapitated and blown apart.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades! |

One of the things impacting the sellability of anything GW makes are the boxes and the interval of time that models are released as separates.
For example, Blood of the Phoenix didn't sell, but solo boxes of Incubi, Banshees, Drazhar and Jain Zar will fly off the shelf.
I'll probably end up with both characters and 20 of each- In fact I'm still considering getting BotP because I have no Eldar at all, and what's on the DE side would complement what I already have.
The box set for Sisters? Well, I bought one. But I also just got my first of penitents, and let me tell ya, there are three more of those in my future at least. I haven't sat down to assemble it yet, but it looks like I can actually build two anchorites! And have two penitent and two mortifier pilots to augment my rhinos, armigers and scenery.
When Zephyrim drop, I'll probably get four boxes on the drop.
I think that box sets are good value- I kicked my butt for not getting Overkill and Gangs of Commorragh. I have Spacehulk, Tooth and Claw, and the GSC Kill Team- That;s a whole GSC army there. But I also think the gap between releasing separates doesn't need to be as long as it is,
And to bring it back to Exodites, here's the thing: if they did a box, it would probably sell really well because as a new faction, every player would need every model in the box.
Allowing the army to freelance with other Eldar factions, or even just join Ynarri detachments which include other reborn factions might also give Exodites a shot in the arm.
This edition has 3 rogue traders and a Zoat; it has Sisters and Genestealer Cults! I am sure that Exodites have been discussed more than once this edition. There's a lot that GW needs to do before getting serious about it- we need more platic aspects and DE characters need to make a return, but we really could end up getting everything we want. GW just keeps surprising me- I love my Mortifiers, Zephyrim, and my Triumph, and if I had a nickel for every naysayer who predicted for over a year about how GW would just resculpt the existing range without adding anything new, let's just say I'd have another box of PEs.

Karol, I'd bet my entire haul of plastic that you're wrong about boys in Poland not being into to dinosaurs. Every boy I've ever met has been into dinosaurs, from Ireland and the UK, to the US and even Vietnam. Nothing about all the Poles I've ever worked with, or met when I was in Poland suggests that they could be so much of an outlier, that Polish boys are more different to the Irish than the Vietnamese. But getting back on topic, in my experience most of the men those boys turn into, tend to outgrow dinosaurs when puberty hits, and if a lot of people in Nottingham feel the same, then that doesn't bode well for Exodites. On the other hand, not being overly familiar with what Exodites actually are, I'm just picturing Dino Riders like the ones posted above, and those seem kind of silly to me, but if the sculptors can give them more of a general reptilian theme rather than Jurassic Park with lasers, I think they might work.

GW literally already sells a faction composed entirely of dinosaur [people] - so clearly they think that there is a reasonable market for such things.

Hypothetically, I think that Blackstone fortress could be a gateway for the Exodites. If they did a Y'narri (Spelling of that word???) expansion I could very well see it be possible. If they can do Death Guard and Inquisition, they can do Y'narri.
I'm thinking something like a Dark Eldar warrior with Shredder cannon, a striking scorpion, the Exodite riding a raptor, a Farseer, and a wych.
Heck, if all they had was one single dino-riding Exodite in the box and also had 40k rules to use him in your Eldar force I would do it, and I really wouldn't even care if his was points efficient or not, it would be rule of cool.
