Ok so I get why we dont have an Exodite faction. They dont travel in space so creating lore for them would be annoying to say the least but the Ynnari provided the perfect oppurtunity for us to finnaly get some god damn dinosaur riding elfs. Exodites have been confirmed to be joining the Ynnari and unlike when they join the harlequins they dont have to give up there personalitys and more importantly there dinosaurs when they do so. How did games workshop drop the ball so hard. All I want in life is Dinosaur riding space Elfs. Is that too much to ask for?

Because there are still more Space Marine Chapters that don't have their own Codex.

It is a crime. There have been no rules for Exodites since 2nd ED

Yeah it's sad. It's not even like they have to do them from scratch, they got plenty of reptilian mount and Eldar /elf assets, they could pretty much virtually kit bash them.

In fact that's what I've been doing from thingiverse assets anyway...

I suspect it's because Games Workshop suspects, that they wouldn't sell that well, and I suspect they might be right.

Sadly I think this is the case. As much as I ADORE the idea of my Exodite Eldar, the following would happen first due to popular demand -

like, a theoretically infinite Space Marine release for chapters. Yawn.

New Guard/ Traitor guard infantry kits

A whole new xeno faction

Maybe then craftworld failcast being remade into plastic (Like, Warp Spider/ Dark Reaper combo kit, Swooping hawk/Fire Dragon and so on)

Then literally all of AoS.

A Plastic Thunderhawk

Then exodites.

Im not even asking for a entire exodite faction. Im just asking for like 4 or 5 Exodite models in the Ynnari. They were litterally making a whole new eldar faction anyways with new models. There was no excuse to not just throw in a couple exodites. As i said in the OP the Ynnari recruit from the exodites. Ynnari ex exodites riding dinosaurs would be entirely lore compliant.

I need all Space Marines renewed up until Mark XV armor before I allow any new xenos products. /s

I suspect what they'd rather do is put marines on dinosaurs and sell those instead. They've stolen the distinctiveness of xenos armies for marines before.

I for one can't wait to literally have nothing but marines - fast marines with specialist weapon teams led by martial paragons alongside neophyte squads with heavy weapons and riding jetbikes and hover tanks.

Phobos armoured marines that specialise in poisons, jetbikes and have experimental gene enhancement squads.

Iron hands to the extreme where they are so augmetic they get back up and their tech is mars inspired and they release electromag demons on their enemies and have terminator esque skin sheathed cyborg bodies

Marines with mutant progrnoids that produce twice as many gendered, allowing them double their ranks. They grow bigger as they age but due to limited resources have to under equip them to have enough for everyone. they also love going fast.

Then there's the super tactical snooty marines with their advanced Centurion jump jet battlesuits and linear accelerators.



Might as well just give up any pretense of non marine factions and just subsume them all...

What I find more annoying is that GW will continually remind us that Exodite's exist within the setting. Rather than let them drift into the background, they keep pulling them forward whenever they generally talk about Eldar Lore.

Which is really annoying because, as noted above, converting your own is really expensive as you've got to buy two or three big kits to get a single converted kit. Even if you get mounts from outside of GW you've still got to spend a lot more.


Corsairs at least can use the regular models with some light converting to make them appear different.



I get the feeling that someone in GW wants to do them and that they are one of those armies that is forever sitting on the "one day" pile. Hence why we never get anything, but at the same time they keep teasing them at us.

Sadly the only new stuff is the Yinnari which is just a marketing push to try and get Dark/Craftworld eldar players to buy the "other half" of the race and expand their collections rather than start a fresh army. It's a cheap way for GW to make a "new army" from two others. It's not bad, its just not as exciting as a fully new Exodites army.





That said Eldar already has a lot of Exarch and Aspect warriors that need updating to plastic first. So its not as if their range doesn't need updates before they should think about expanding them.

Space Marines are in the focus of GW as they are the main driving force behind 40k.
The number of expected sales of Exodites is not large enough to make them interesting for GW.

They'd sell, just not as well as a new Marine/Primaris sub-faction.

And yet Seraphon - lizardmen on dinosaurs- an army getting the LAST battletome of the whole AoS line; managed to sell out their christmas battlebox first last year (that's 2018 christmas).

I think Dinosaurs are popular enough to sell, maybe not marine high, but then nothing else GW makes sells like marines anyway.

The same reason everything else. The model designers seemingly dictate what comes out, so until they decide "Hey we should work on some Exodites!" you won't get them.

In normal circumstances, there would be a collaboration between the groups such that the rules team might say that they have plans to do an Exodite codex/supplement/whatever so the model team can start work on design, but from what GW has indicated it's entirely the models which dictate the rules and from the bits we've been able to glean it appears the model team get their own direction entirely independent from the rules team who just get told "This is releasing in 4 months, write rules for it and fit it in"

Wow some salty people in here, the answer is probably it'd be a gamble unless as other have suggested, they had a couple inside of a larger ynnari expansion.

I'll be honest it's a cool concept and I'd like to see them, but you know deep down they'd be priced £30 for 10 basic dudes who are next to no points and the army would be prohibitively expensive to get up and running.

Because "marines sell better".

A fact that I'm sure has nothing to do with the endless marketing, promotional material, extra rules, model releases etc.

To be fair, they've been releasing loads of stuff we never thought we'd see again like Genestealer Cults, Custodes, Sisters... even the Zoat and Squat races got a new model! So I wouldn't count out getting some Exodite models just yet

They already do, it’s catachans riding raptors count as IG rough riders/dkok death riders. See my Catachan gallery for examples.

Building a Exodite force wouldn’t be too hard imo, the parts are all there, you just need to be creative and kitbash. Dinos from lizardmen/seraphon, dark elves cold ones; chariot pieces from dark and high elves; weapon platforms from eldar/harlequin; riders/lances/weapons from dark elves/high elves/eldar/drukhari.

I guess it’s time to get out the green stuff and go find some scale dinos then

They could simply release a Maidenworld Aeldari force that had a few Exodites, but also allows the Aspects to be redone in plastic, etc. I'd be down for that.

We don't have exodite models because we've had 8 editions.

This is why I don't want a 9th edition. If we stick with 8th, the range will expand. If we go to 9th, they just have to release everything that has existed for 33 years all over again.

Sticking with a living edition is the only way to actually expand the galaxy, the lore and the range.
