All I’m getting from this is Lord_blackfang saw it, enjoyed it, and that’s apparently upsetting?

He negged the hell out of what is universally recognized as one of the best action movies n decades. It would be like someone saying the Princess Bride was alright despite the terrible acting, boring script, unfunny humor and cookie cutter action. It’s just shocking. We’re shocked.

A lot of movie critics whove actually gone to film school and study cinema as their main direction in life, lauded the movie as something that shouldnt be as good as it actually is. And its rated pretyy highly universally.

But thats just consensus. Im not sure why he is rough on it, but i think his opinion is valid. Hes dead wrong, of course. But at least hes articulating why instead of being a poop monkey, slinging feces while he sniffs his fingers like most trolls do online. So i respect his (very wrong ) opinion.

I exalted this post. For too much of the geek crowd, "good writing" is just what you described there. Canonical precision. Technical writing, lol.

Yes I think the new Ghostbusters film falls into that. All strikes me as less of a film going experience and more or confirmation of a shared cultural references...

And the irony of course is we accept a lot more blanks and inconsistencies in the world around us (ok, we used to, the conspiracy crowd grows daily - my current favourite is the war in Ukraine is faked Wag the dog style...).
