They should look at the round edges on this vehicle and say, ew, looks Tau, get that shiz away from me.

I think you may be right. It should be more square jawed.

So, how POed is Leman Russ that the bigger, better tank is named after Dorn?

I bet he thinks all tanks are for cowards, and any man of the Imperium worth his salt wouldn't be hiding in an armored wagon but charging the enemy with an axe.

Despite all that... definitely a little miffed that Dorn's is bigger!

Hmmm. Perhaps a timely reminder that Flanderization serves no one well:

I like it well enough as it is, but I do think it would be better if it were more angular in line with the aesthetic of the rest of the IG line.

Maybe the Rogal Dorn tank is a Mars pattern. The Mars pattern Baneblade has more rounded edges.

I'm not a fan of this new tank, more at the precedence it brings. It just invalidates both the Malcador and Macharius. Which just makes me fear they're both going to legends, I'd have preferred GW make both of these into plastic and add them to the codex instead. Which could have brought new variants with them as well.

Any true Guard player will tell you they always need more tanks. (have you seen the pics of peoples IG armies???) We need little tanks. We need medium tanks. We need heavy tanks. We need super-heavy tanks. Hell, we might need two+ super-heavies glued together someday.... And we need multiple types & variations of each!

I have 2 IG-deriative armies and 0 tanks.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

I have 66 tanks in my Guard army. I don't need anymore.

I do want another Hydra though. And I don't own a Deathstrike.

"Tank between leman russ and baneblade" has been something that seems like a bit of a no-brainer as far as tanks to add, it's annoying it can't just be the Malcador or Macharius, but I figure they both want to make something New and want to make something more compact than those very large forgeworld models in terms of sprue space.

This. I would have much preferred plastic kits for the Malcador and Macharius, something like:

Malcador:
- Box One: Can build either a Malcador Heavy Tank, Malcador Annihilator, Malcador Defender, or Dracosan APC. They're all the same hull. Just need a slightly different "turret" variation for the Defender. The Dracosan could even use a Defender "turret" just without the guns, and then have doors that slot into where the sponsons would go.
- Box Two: Can build either a Malcador Infernus or Valdor Tank Hunter. Though you could potentially octo-blade it by making the upper hull and "turret" sections of the above slot over the lower hull pieces of these variants. Kinda like how the Chimera slots over the hatches used for the Basilisk and Hydra.

The Minotaur Artillery Tank would be the hardest to do, and probably the most likely to be sent to legends.

Macharius:
- Could be done in a single box: Can build either a Macharius Heavy Tank, Macharius Vanquisher, Macharius Vulcan, or Macharius Omega. The turret and upper hull parts would just slot over the Omega hull section. GW could even add some new variants with other titan grade weapons such as the turbo-laser destructor.

You've got enough tanks already. It's wild how many tanks Astara have, especially when you consider Legends, and Forge World. More tanks than other armies total datasheets

I think it’s disgusting the number of infantry options that Eldar have. I mean what is even the point between having dire avengers and guardian defenders. Totally stupid move GW.

Can we also state for the record that the new Rogal Dorn is in fact, two tank variations. Both of which are not nearly as as good as their equivalent points cost in LRs. Jesus, the new Vanquisher is a slightly less stupid Tau Rail Gun. With the new changes to how they shoot, and how often they can shoot, even after being destroyed, Tau and Guard have essentially swapped places. Guess the 8th Edition Deathstars are back on the menu boys.

Rogal Dorn's biggest contribution is in reinforcing IG battle tank naming conventions, strengthening the theory that one of the missing primarchs was called Bane Blade

The Malcador Line Breaker is a beautiful tank and I would have loved to see that in plastic.

It could be made in plastic due to HH. It even got a new Vanquisher cannon option.
