That's good to hear. £8 for shipping and having to get above £50 just for replacing individual paints was a major problem in the making for me.

In terms of where they could go, I can easily see them doing a metallics set, particularly when Emperor Gold is seemingly becoming a replacement for S75 Decayed Metal in a lot of arsenals and you have to dip into the regular Warpaint range to highlight their Blanche metallics which I'd assume they want to avoid where possible when they're pitching these as sets.

After some brief painting tests, I am happy to report that "Emberveil" from Volume 4 is a perfect edge highlight tone for the "Fiery Vermillion" from the earlier sets. Coverage of Emberveil is also pretty good for an orange acrylic, so ideal for thinned edge highlights. Classic Blood Angels scheme hasn't been as easy as these two colors since.. 1992?

Still need to figure out the best wash for the panel lines and shadows.. I could go "modern color theorist" with a cold, purplish red, classic oldhammer with pure red, or scifi/military modeler with some sort of terracotta/rust shade.. think i'll try all three options tbh.

First up, "Vineroot Shade" from Vol 4, looks quite promising (waiting for it to dry ATM)

Indeed. I seem to be able to use a lot more thinning medium than with some other paint brands, while still achieving decent coverage. This does vary by color a lot though, as unfortunately is a FOL with acrylic paints

Dont expect miracles (my eyesight is pretty crap lately, also using an alternate improvised painting station ATM), I'll try to post a pict later today to demonstrate to colors. I hate not having access to my airbrush, all the paintjobs look so grainy when one brush paints the basecoats of difficult coverage colors such as reds. IME anything requiring over 4 coats of acrylic, painted by brush, starts to look grainy AF. Mr Hobby Aqueous would help, since its a self levelling acrylic (has a bit of solvent in it), but their color range is sadly very limited and no direct analogies to oldhammer BA colours exist in their range.. Mr Finishing Surfacer 1500 (White) could be one way to tackle this, perhaps..

Apologies, I seem to have caught a flu from the missus. Didnt manage to get any painting done today. Here's where I got to last night, the lighting isnt ideal in these picts but hopefully shows something useful. So this is a "Fiery Vermillion" basecoat, with "Emberveil" edge highlights. I applied some "Vineroot shade" to the crevices, but seems like I diluted it too much, looked much more defined before it dried. Just a matter of re-applying it until its in the desired strenght..

The edge highlights are easiest to spot on the backpack and the backside trim of the leg plates. All colours straight from the pot, with only "Warpaints Stabilizer" added for some thinning instead of water

I will post better picts once I can take this one further - still needs a lot of work. At least now I got all my "tools" and brushes going forward on this secondary painting station, which will help a ton, I'm not as good with the No 2 brush as I used to be (sigh)

Finally I recovered enough and was able to finish the test. All colours except for the black (AK Black Uniform Base) are from John Blanche sets 1-4, including the green base color. Its a rather disgusting finish texture-wise, but whatever. Will def be using an airbrushed basecoat for my more "serious" models..
