Why simply because they're Redcoats in space.

And fluff wise even the air is rationed, so going from hive gangers to perfectly dressed imperial guardsmen is shocking and badass.

I can only think of one way to could improve them and that is to give them Bolt-action lasguns only then will they have the undisputed most badass regiments.
