They are very well painted. I really like the battle damage but the only thing is I think some of it is in unrealistic places. Too much on every corner and every wall of pieces. Needs to be more sporatic.

Great job though!

Technique wise it looks good. The Dev sergeant has a weird pose though, and the red glow around the heads is a bit off to me.

Any chance of a tutorial on this one?

Good work, but man... those barrels need drilling. KILLS a great paintjob.

Did you airbrush the red helmets on the bodies? Dude with the power sword looks to have some unresolved overspray on him.

Also, I wish the antennae on the Dev sarge's backpack was metallic. And the targeting thing he has, I wish that was addressed instead of being left blue.

The edge highlighting is a tad much, but these are nice models regardless.

Thank you for only painting the left hands red!!!!! I cannot tell you how many times I see Crimson Fists armies with both hands red.

Oh, and of course great job with the painting, but you already knew that

Their pretty nice, I tend to prefer blending to edge highlighting but still its very neat. It would be nice to have a bit more color on the weapons, the flat drybrush silver and edge highlight is bland, especially on the devastators with those big guns it takes up most of the miniature.

Add some black outer casing to the main body of the gun, or a brighter red to contrast with the blue and break up the silver would be a nice touch of improvement from the straight silver.

Great work. The battle damage is toned down, the OSL is subtle. The only suggestion I have is the loincloth on the sergeant. It's distressingly bare. I think a symbol, some scribbles, a number, anything would look good on it.

And as a side note, thank you for identifying this as a commission up front!

Quite nice basic paintjob.

If you want to aspire to ''high quality'' you might want to improve your brushwork though, ( no offence intended, you have a nice basic skill to stand on here) airbrush only gets you so far after all.
Go for a multi-layered highlight and use a finer brush to get a thinner line, right now its waaay too thick, but it's straight an steady so a finer brush and thinner paint should sort that out.
Also, try to masque parts when airbrushing the basecoat colours, as it stands atm you have bleed of red into the blue around the helmet and gauntlet and a few other places.
You might also want to use contrast colours for ammopouches and try to do something about your metallics, they are kind of sloppy and you have missed out on -a lot- of detail, I assume this has to do with the level that the commission recipint have payed for but still, the weathering is quite OK but a bit basic, just like the highlighs they suffer from having a too high and thick contrast. Going straight into a near-white pigment is not the best of solutions.

You might want to look into look into weathering powders and oilpaints to achive proper weathering, the Forge World books IA: Master Class I & II offers great advice on their use and additional tecniques like graphite brushing and the olde hairspray & wetbrush-strippling.

You have a fine base skill to work with here, but quite away to travel before you reach the ''HQ''-mark, these are table-top; no more, no less, but I will follow your work and look forward to your growth as a painter and hobbyist.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

Agree with with blending the edge highlights, especially if your going for a realist look. Great job though overall.

Y'all are being nitpicky. Since these models were painted on commission, it's very likely Awaken only had a set amount of time in which to paint the models. I'm guessing Awaken only has 2 hours to devote to each individual figure, since they charge $17.00 USD per figure at this level - if they take longer than 2 hours a figure they're working for waaaay less than minimum wage*. And lemme tell you, if they started blending the edge highlights they'd be adding another hour or so to each figure. As such, they have to go with edge highlights. That's just the harsh reality of commission painting.

~Tim?

*By which I mean prevailing US minimum wage.

I wasn't saying they needed it xD edge highlighting is a completely different style altogether imo. I prefer to paint blended myself was all I was saying xD
I still think their should have been enough time to put in some red or black to break up all that silver with the weapons though.

I understand fully the reality of commission painting xD

They are very nice and they have great depth.

I think the issue here is that we can see that you are an excellent painter but this is not being connected with the fact that you are also a commission artist.

I suspect that these are your level 1 or 2 level of quality and thus small steps like drilling out barrels and not painting every single detail is standard in order to paint quickly yet make them affordable.

As per your website.

High – this quality includes few colours paint as well as shadows and highlights with bigger depth and few details.

vs....

Top – Best quality we offer in predefined painting schemes – in this quality we use all the professional techniques in order to create best looking miniatures, extract all the details and give it unforgettable look.

PS..... please keep producing tutorials. I have picked up a few tricks from watching your vids.

I like looking at your stuff. You do a lot of great contrasting colors. The only thing I would say on these guys is their poses are a little odd. And the black leather pouch has too much contrast per the picture. It prob looks great in person though.

Constructive critic is always welcome. We always look at it and give it some serious thought, so big thanks for that!

But yeah, @Some_Call_Me_Tim and Rickfactor got the things right - we are always trying to be price - wise, and get our clients best looking miniatures in the lowest prices. So we tend to omit details on levels one or two to save time and be able to get lower with the price ; )

Remember that our price per troop in High Quality is around 10 GBP (17$) - and that covers assembly, removing most of the mold lines, filling gaps, painting and basing (plus some extras like drilling / decals).

Anyway, thanks for feedback one more time!

Best!

Assembly, gaps, mold lines is the very part of the hobby I don't like. That alone takes the biggest chunk of time IMO.

No joke. I would rather paint than assemble any day.

When I saw the sergeant the first phrase that came to mind was "And the ork I killed was thiiiiiis big!"

Also, minor nitpick is that -none- of the devastators are looking where they are firing.
