Hi i just finished a 3 or 4 month GW store tournament it took so long we were still using old 6th ed and old imp guard codexes! Anyway this is the list that i used:

1spiritseer+5 wraithguard in WaveSerp (SL/SC/HF)
2x10 guardian defender in WaveSerp (SL/HF)
1x Wraithlord + BL + Glaive
1x falcon with bright lance +HF
1x falcon with SL+HF
3x vypers with SL+SC

I wouldn't have said it was uber competitive but it did very well in every game.. Tabled one army in 2 turns.. Tabled in the final too.


What i learnt?? Falcons are good (better than you'd imagine!). And vypers are too... Those 2 units did the most damage and most baiting by far.. The other stand out was the wraithlord he is just so strong!! Only took max 1 wound whole tourney

Ok, now bring the same list to a tournament not at a GW. Its a whole new playing feild. GW tournaments are full of fluffgamers and modelgamers, not saying this is a bad thing, but none of those types of players are competitive. At any flgs tournament, you will see that your falcon+vypers wont fly.

Fun list. And just because he goes against the cookie cut lists / meta does not mean it won't fly. At a local FLGS, anything is possible with newer and experienced players.

I would like to say that falcons did well because i had them in a pack.. 5x str8 ap2 (2 twin linked, one lance) is much more predictable than 2 fire prisms. There was av14 in most games i just ignored it til last. The list was also able to benefit from the vypers because they moved with the warlord/wraith guard serp so whenever they were exposed the warlord was a priority (he never got even wounded) basically who shoots vypers when there is wraithguard and waveserpent coming too..
