Bit of confusion in my gaming group. What does everyone think?

In calgars entry it says he rolls 3 times on the warlord traits table in the sm codex. But can he also roll on the new updated traits in the 7th brb?

he can of course. Although i dont know if he gets the 3 rolls thing if he uses the BRB ones.

Depending on how it reads, it may be telling you be must roll on the SM traits.

Surely the epub and interactive take priority as they get updated? I don't have the new rulebook yet, I am buying it soon. Someone told me that in a paragraph to do with the traits it says any warlord can choose from their own codexs or these tables?

My gaming group let me use the brb warlord traits as they went with this rule. However some people figured that because the codex usually takes priority then specifying pg 76 means you cant select from the rulebook, let along rolling 3 dice for it. But I admit it is kind of fun to nearly guarantee getting any trait you want. 3 rolls on table and re roll for battleforged

This isn't exactly supported by the rules, but how our store works out "which take precedence" is entirely dependant on what codex you are using.
Physical? Okay, follow that + FAQ.
Digital? Okay, follow that + FAQ. (I assume the FAQ applies to digital, or are they automatically updated with the FAQ?)

Since no version "take precedence" as far as I'm aware, it's just how we deal.

Also, slightly off topic: I'm not sure how a CAD trait for re-rolls and Calgar would work as it only mentions singular for Warlord trait.

But if a digital is automatically faq'd then surely I can use a rule from that even if I have my apparently stone aged physical hardback codex?

I guess if it is, sure.
Like I said, it's just how the guys at my store do it. If your friends don't mind, then no worries. Otherwise you will need to show them the digital doesn't have a page number.

And the Table on pg 76 gives the option to roll on either set of tables in both hardback and digital editions.

The interactive does not mention page 76' but it has a drop down menu that you click that takes you to the space marine codex.

The iPad enhanced edition has a hyperlink that only pulls up the Space Marine Traits, no option for BRB. The hardback book says Space Marine Traits Table.

No, you can't roll on the BRB traits with Calgar.

Yes he can, if you look throughout the codex there are page numbers in parenthesis all over the unit entries. The numbers were only posted as reference and not limitations. On top of that even in the warlord chart specifically states that you may roll on the warlord chart in the rule book. Also it is not worded that he may only roll 3 times in the sm warlord trait chart like azrael.
