Been Around the Block
|
I was reading the new ork codex and I saw something that looked odd to me...
Mad Dok Grotsnik
Dok's Tools - Provide 5+ FNP to all models in the unit
Cybork body - Provide 6+ FNP to model
Cybork body appears to be superfluous. Is this a flavor thing or am I missing something.
Thanks!

Dear Games Workshop,
Paper is totally over powered! I can't believe how badly you guys screwed up. Why can't you make armies balanced, like Scissors? I quit!

Yea pure Flavor. the Cybork used to be useful in the last book since it gave a 5++ save but now it's pretty much worthless all around. It's all about fluff - just like Stikkbomb chuckas on trukks.....when 95% of the codex has stickbombs already.

At least the "One Scalpel Short..." rule doesn't make it compulsory to head towards the nearest unit anymore. Not exactly a fair trade but what'cha gonna do?

In my opinion it is a fair trade. I will never have to have grotsnik and a 30 boy squad try to chase down a flying model again. That was hilarious but annoying

Many Characters in the codex have the option to take Cybork Bodies, which means that you can mkae your warboss a little tougher without having to take a Painboss

Mad Dok Grotznik is one of the most famous Cyborks of all orks, it would make little sense to not give him cybork, even if it doesn't add any useful rules.
Also not that the doc deals out rampage, which is quite nice when he is lead nobz mobs. +d3 attacks on powerklaws or big choppas is pretty awesome.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

Arguable. Grotsnik is a kind of scary character when you get down to brass-tacks, and a great way to make a nasty unit even meaner whilst giving them FNP.
I'm heavily considering running him now honestly. Probably with a few Meganobz, because lord knows I love meganobz.

LOL. I can only imagine how that battle went. Probably along the same lines of me trying to lock down/corner Tau into close combat back when I started playing regularly again...

Cybork should have been a 4+ Feel no Pain...even if it were more points it would have had a point!

I want to try running grotsnik with Flash Gitz one day. Squad of 5-10 becomes shooty and angry smashy.
Then again that means I would have to not put him with Meganobz...
unrelated they should have made cybork give 6+ fnp, or improve your FnP by 1 if you had it from another source. I believe the daemons codex has something that improves FnP if you take wounds from some tzeentch nonsense, so not an entirely new idea.

I'm still hoping that it was a typo and in the eventual FaQ they will change it to a 6++ invul, although adding an extra +1 to existing fnp would be sweet too.

That would be a pretty impressive typo though. The kind of type when a cat jumps on your keyboard and accidentally spells "I can see your soul!"
It probably was brought in line with the imperial bionics, which also provide 6+ FNP. The game is a lot easier to play when similar things work similar. It's sad that the upgrade has become completely useless in the process though.

Very depressing as warbosses are now pretty easy to instakill if the enemy focuses strength 10 on them. Orks really need better access to invulnerable.

For the guy who leaves it all on the field (because he doesn't pick up after the game).
Keep on rolling |
