Was looking at the main steam store page and saw this.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/253510/

It looks pretty good to me. I never really had the funds to try out both warhammer and warmachine but i'll give this a look when the price goes down. It looks pretty solid though.

The game has preorder exclusives, paid DLC before the game even launches, and is base $65? This doesn't seem too attractive.

65 dollars for the privilege to play a buggy alpha version... nah

I was on the kickstarter, I'd recommend not picking it up yet. It has some serious frame rate issues on a lot of computers, as well as other problems. So yeah, I'd wait honestly.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Hey cool, a Warmachine game for the comp-

-holy gak, wat, 65 effing dollars?

Yeah sure.

Die in a fire, game.

The ridiculous price is apparently due to their Kickstarter. Planetary Annihilation had an even more ridiculous price when it first hit early access but I bought it a couple of weeks ago for a tenner and its still not had its release version.

I'm fairly confident that the price on release will be significantly lower, it had better be if they actually want people to buy it.

An unfortunately necessary measure at this stage to prevent the pitchforks from coming out amongst the Kickstarter backers.

I find it tough to buy anything at full price with how regular the Steam sales are.

The game itself looks quite pretty but with the 'epic' campaign only having 21 missions (which really isn't very many for a TBS tactics game) this suggests that the single player is going to be both linear and not the primary focus of the game.

I will buy it when it gets its first -75% sale but I'm not going to be rushing to get it.

A better question is why are they charging kickstarter backers that much at all? The question was valid when Planetary Annihilation pulled its shenanigans, its valid now. There's no reason to be charging anyone that much money for an Alpha.

It was an incentive for donating at that level in the kickstarter. It looks like the actual game was just $20.

I mean, I don't think I'd charge more for a prerelease version of a game, but if people want it as an excuse to donate more money to the kickstarter then alright, and I can see why they'd not want to undermine that - though maybe they should be avoiding undermining it by not making the game available for sale rather than charging such a gigantic premium.

ETA: To be clear, the early beta access was a reward for donating $65 or more, as I understand it, but the game itself was just $20.

This is bs. As someone who paid for the Kickstarter ($20), this reeks of a greed-fueled grab to get extra money from people who weren't part of the Kickstarter.

I mean, the Kickstarter $65 tier got you: "The Game + Digital Game Manual + Forums Badge + Digital Strategy Guide + Alternate Company Skins + Extreme Warjacks + Digital Art Book + Commander Sturgis + mp3 Game Soundtrack." Unless Whitemoon is willing to give EA Steam buyers all of that, they're being ripped off.

I never get most collector's editions anyway. There's only like 2 things I ever give a crap about in the collector's edition. They probably throw in the rest of the crap so they can tack on a higher price tag. I barely care how you made the game unless the game is so pants-sh*ttingly amazing I need to see it like deus ex: human revolution and you can get like the super duper edition of that for really cheap considering the quality of the game.

Nah, its pretty common to charge a ton for Early Access games and also give a bunch of extras with it once the full game is released.

You don't want a bunch of people playing your buggy alpha and complaining that its buggy and ruining it for when the full game is released.

The full game will cost much less, and I imagine the DLC won't be all that expensive either.

Its the price you pay for not backing the kickstarter at that level.

Anyway, the game is quite playable as it stands. Even with only 2-4 FPS you can comfortably play a multi-player game.

Once they add Force customization it will be amazing.

Full price for early acces, yeah, let me just get on that.

Besides, it doesn't even have hordes so I don't even want it.

2-4 fps. Comfortable. wat.

I don't think any game is comfortably playable at that frame rate, unless it's slideshow simulator.

Well, to be honest, while the price is ridiculous it says on the tin that those who pay 65$ on Steam will be getting all the 65$ pledge units, but without the reskins, so it's more like "Steam preorderers get less bang for the same buck because they weren't nice enough to support us on Kickstarter, but still get to feel like master race with all those units." while the retail game clocking around 20$/€ will not have any bonuses and you'll have to buy the units on top of the regular retail price if you want them. x)

I didn't think so either. Yet I've played well over a dozen online games with that frame rate and below.

Its certainly not good. But it isn't all that detrimental either.

Given that we can attribute the framerate problems to the fact its still in Beta I think the full game will be fine.

If a game runs at 2-4 fps, it's not beta, it's pre-alpha. Seriously.

Try as a new Kickstarter.

Try as a new Kickstarter.

I'm sure the Steam forum users can't wait to endlessly moan about the eventual pricing of that game too.

Wait until it releases for a far lower cost. They did $65 so people who didn't participate in the Kickstarter wouldn't be able to get early access for cheaper than those who did.

I guess you can put up with the backers crying or the uninformed

Edit: Can't wait for the inevitable "They lowered it to $20?! It must be doing terrible"
