I got a 1850pt list with 6 marklight drones on a drone commander a 5 man team of pathfinders and two sky rays

My idear was I can pick out 4 different targets for seeker missilies or ignor cover but I'm worried if it would be better to drop the pathfinders for a piranha to have one more fast objective stealer

Help is needed and greatly recived
Thanks dakkadakka

I'd drop pathies for Tetras. better markerlight firing and are as fast as piranhas

I would drop a skyray in favor of more firepower.

Also as someone who doesn't really have access to fw units I would drop the pathfinders in favor of more marker light drones.

Unless you have a lot Seeker sources, you can only target two units with seekers and those will be getting lit by the Skyray. s themselves. With both skyrays and the Drones, I would drop the pathfinders.

I dont play tau, but when I play against them the first thing I kill every game is anything that can markerlight me. It dies first, EVERY time. Pathfinders are quite easy for me to kill markerlight drones and skyray i found to be a lot more difficult to remove but they also werent nearly as effective at marking me.

Food for thought from the other side of the tau guns.

Personally, I'd drop the Tau ;-)

I feel it depends on the list

How many units n things do you want to activate reasonably.

Figure that number out then roughly double it for the amount of marker lights you will generally need (much less with mark'o s)

Well, I don't think there is such a thing as a high score. I fight Tau by killing the Marker Lights, so the more there are, the harder it is for me to win.

I used to stick a few markers into my firewarrior squads.
For 49 points, you can stick a pair of marker drones and another marker light with target lock into a firewarrior squad.

It's not a huge investment to do that twice, and you pick up 2-3 more marker light hits a turn, from a unit that is pretty low on the priority list to kill.

Depends how many units you have who will really benefit from markerlight assistance. If you are running lots of small units, markerlights are a lot less useful. If you are running huge blocks of firepower (maxed out broadside units, for example), then you probably want enough markerlights to be getting 3 hits with them for every big shooting unit every turn. That way you will almost always have ignores cover and often have a bit left over for increasing BS.

close to my 1850 list in markerlight sources, This list has never let me down.

Commander with goodies
Riptide Ion
Krootz
pathfinder x6
SDT x2 marks/x9drones
Skyray
Skyray

Ethereal
Riptide HBC + goodies
Crisis x3 (MP,MP,TL) x6 marker drones
More krootz
Broadsides x3 Missile drones x6

quick rundown there..

I OFTEN use my pathfinders as bait... they will die is what I assume, and IF my opponent lets them live I tend to win.

But the point is I may have too many lights at times, but as the game goes on and I take losses what I do have left is very very effective at killing what they need to.

I wouldn't say to "assign" markerlights to certain units. instead I try to have 4 markerlight *hits* to destroy two targets.

My army gets away with two super accurate units of Markerlights. I use a Firesight Marksman unit and a drone swarm of markerlights like you. It seems to be plenty.I havew two units of Pathfinders but I never fire their markerlights but once in a GREAt while. Too busy murdering things with them to care. I suppose technically I have the option for four such Markerlight units but I use two to great effect.

Hold out bait to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and then crush him.
