I prefer Red Legion. It sounds more distinct but doesn't have the weirdness of having a number in the name.

Number is definitely a no-go. Crimson Wolves sounds like the bastard child of the Crimson Fists and Space Wolves. Red Legion just sounds silly. Crimson Guard reminds me too much of IG.

Hence, I voted for Crimson Shades. I'm still not a big fan of the name, but whatever. I think you can do better than any of these names.

What's their fluff? Is there a particular reason why Shades, Guard, or Wolves would be important to them?

Throw a random noun and a adjective and badabing you got your self a chapter name.

The above names sound very uninspiring though.

as above whats da fluff?

The Crimson Guard are a militant religious order who provide Crusader bodyguards for Priests and Inquisitors.

Crimson Shades is probably the least denominatory of those names. They can't be a Legion, because the Marines are not allowed Legions. How about the Crimson Shield?

Judging by the names, I'm guessing you're painting them all blue.

Not really a big fan of the "Color x" "Noun y" naming system.
Some theme and background, aside from color, would be really helpful.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

Cardinals of Fire
Sanguine Guard
Ruber Knights (Ruber = red in latin)
Custodia Rubrum (Red Guard, latin)
Ruber Redemptio (Red Redemption... close to the Red Redemptionists cults on Necromunda).

Harder to fit red in there and not be cheesy than I thought.

I think Cinder knights has a nice ring to it.

I agree, fluff is important when determining a name.

Shades makes them seem very sneaky and underhanded, whereas Guard makes them sound more noble and knightly.

... that's going to be called "Rubber Knights" the first time you mention that in a store.

We'd just call them the Trojans for short.

I do like Crimson Guard or Crimson Watchers sounds good also I had a tough time for my fire hawk successors (hush i know they're all dead and all legion of damned but dsmnet its what i want!) and still haven't fully finalized my own chapters name. Though I do hope you can figure something out.

You can name them Legion dispite what other posters have said. I'm 99% certain there are plenty of official chapters with the name "Legion." Legion of Night springs to mind.

I personally vote for Crimson Legion. Sounds right to me. I definitely discourage The 10th Legion. As 10 in Roman Numerals is X, and the X Legion was the Iron Hands before the chapters were split.

Crimson Shades reminds me slightly of Eldar for some reason. Just one question. Is it Chaos or Loyalists? I'm guessing since you haven't specified, it's Loyalists. The word Legion sounds a lot more like a Chaos thing, because the loyalist legions were cut into bits and called "Chapters." Good luck!

Your right i should have a bit of lore in here to.

They value tactics and strategy above honor but they does not mean that there is none present. if the task requires a frontal assault so be it. If they can end the war with one shot from a scout sniper. let it be done. if the fighting stops at night they wont. ETC. also reason for The 10th Legion is because i am a huge Dungeon siege Fan and so i like that part of the games lore but i see thats a bad idea. Also i am amending the Crimson Shades name to the Crimson Shadow

For all those heavily on Crimson this-or-that: How about "Vermilion"? It's dark red:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vermilion

And, not negatively associated, IMHO, but 'Vermilion Squadron' was Rick Hunter's crew. Him, poor forgotten Ben, and that bad-ass pilot, Max Sterling.
