I play Necrons, so I guess we have sweep attacks from Overlords and doom scythes (or death pylons if you are bringing them...

What other ways of dealing with the Tiggy/Cent/Loth bomb are there? That putting not great as Gate works out of combat. Ap1/2 tricky as so little of it is reliable against invisible stuff. It almost makes you want to take daemon allies for the deny dice... :-(

roll on telepathy for hallucination, see if you can get them to kill the psyker off for you.

ally in 2 weirdboys, 2 trukks and 10 lobbas. fast objective secured, 4 more denial dice and if invis doesn't go off, then the lobbas can blow tiggy out of the unit.

gate of infinity would work, as it's not autohits but strength tests, and model by model. a 1/3 chance tiggy dies, no look out sir, no saves of any kind. you'd have to get a good deepstrike in, though, so it's unlikely to survive...

I'd imagine if you can get a triarch stalker or 2, get them a hit in and then massed tesla weapons, now twin linked, would do it. every 6 is 3 hits, so it should work well.

deathstars fall to multiple small units. even with split fire they can kill 2 things a turn, 3 if they charge a unit after blowing up the transport. run multpile CAD, and lots of single destroyers & heavy destroyers. forcing him to overkill every model he shoots will make his big scary unit redundant.

The only way that death star will work is if transported in a land raider. Gauss it to death then stay 30" away from them. Try to get second turn and use your mobile troops to cap objectives late game. If invisibility doesn't go off one turn, try to kill off the psykers.

Or you could just tarpit it with a big blob of warriors/scarabs.

Seriously? necrons are the BEST equiped to deal with it.

Doom scythe come in. BAM, heavily crippled deathstar. no need to even roll to-hit, and invisibilty has no effect on it. you even mentioned him yourself.

The pylon version can literally kill the entire thing in a single shot.

Honestly, taking demons for deny dice? necron codex can outright ignore invisibilty and ID the T5 guys in a single go. why bother with anyhting else when units a fraction of the deathstar's cost can kill it in a turn or two when coming from reserves? (deepstrike pylons FTW)

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

There are 2 main ways to deal with them:

1. If he doesn't have Gate of Infinity, then you can tarpit the unit and then kill off the rest of the army.

2. If he has GoI, then just ignore the unit and kill off the rest of the army.

Either ways, don't bother trying to kill off the deathstar. It just takes too much firepower. The key is to spend your resources to deal with the rest of the army. That is how you beat the centurionstar.

Sentry Pylons will outright kill the Centurions in a single turn, though.

Good advice JY2. Sounds like a plan.

Loved the battle report vs those imperial knights, btw.

I just played a GoI Centurion star in a tourny, + on ignoring it and kill everything else. He had shrouded on it, but with invisibility nothing would have changed.

Also accept that it will likely kill whatever it wants to each turn, but it can only kill so much...the one I was up against had a sargeant or whatever that could shoot at a different target, but its only so much.

It's game 3 of this BatRep if youre interested.

Maybe a unit of wraiths with a D-lord (I know he's kinda old school now). Lots of invul saves and mindshackle scarabs make it a decent tarpit, and it's fast enough to stay with them.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

I saw a unit of Lychguard get dropped off right in their faces, and put the hurt down with the dispersion shields.
Not the most point effective way of doing it, but really funny to watch all that grav shooting bounce back and hit the invisible unit.

Thanks Lechine. I'll get into that bat rep shortly. Worryingly, with the new wolves dex and allied Sentinels of Terra, you can go Wolves primary and have two centurionstars in a drop pod each. Both with a seargent for split fire...

Also, a simple way to deal with them:

close combat. Grav centurions are extremely slow in close combat. In fact, they probably go toe to toe with warriors normally (if not worse...probably worse). As such, you can just tarpit them easily all game.

I mean, the cool units and toys will do it, too. But mainly tarpitting the thing serves the same purpose.
