Is the supplement that came with the CE any good and what's different in it?

I was wondering this too. Hoping it lets me use my Loganwing like I used to.
I've found this but nothing else

There's a rundown of it in the new SW Tactics thread. In short, though, the supplement unlocks a new FOC with:
Mandatory 1 HQ, 2 Elites
Optional 3 HQ, 3 Troops, 6 Elites, 3 Fast Attack, 3 Heavy Support
It also allows a re-roll on Warlord traits if you pick them from the book, grants all Wolf Guard (of any type) and TWC Leaders WS5. You have to accept and issue challenges with all characters, but get Preferred Enemy in them, which is pretty good. More here:

If that is accurate then I am all over the Champions of Fenris. Always wanted to do a semi-decent CC heavy wolf army and that supplement along with some changes in the dex make that dream seem like a possibility. Always irked me that out of the Space Vikings and Space Edwards it was the fecking Edwards that was designed for CC.

The supplement is decent. The challenges bit is good for those of us who like fluffy CC SW armies, and the warlord traits are almost universally useful (moreso than the vanilla SW traits imho). However, you become tied to the supplement's relics, and they're arguably less useful than the ones in the SW book (which aren't that great either). However, if you weren't planning on running relics anyway, then it's not a loss.

The detachment is awesome if you like Wolf Guard and TWC as well.

I will probably skip it because losing obsec is suicide against a decent competitive list. Playing a CC army without obsec in 7th isn't going to win you many games. If you just play fluffy armies in friendly pickup games I would recommend the supplement though. There's a lot of fun and interesting things in it.

I find obj secured rarely comes into play. If I meet an enemy unit on a point, we fight to the death 90% of the time.
Not saying Obj secured ain't good, but I am leaning more and more towards formations and focs that don't have it just to see if I miss it when its gone.
I know I'll miss it when a bike unit is running around maelstrom pointing me to death, but then, my goal is to catch that donkey-cave anyway.

I play enough maelstrom against fast armies that I need obsec. Looking at the top 10 BAO armies, that's the meta right now. I will try out some of the formations but I don't anticipate them being very competitive against the current meta.

Nothing stopped you from doing that in the last book, except the fact they kinda sucked (TWC w/ Bearlord being the exception). The new detachments reflect the disconnect of GW with their rules. It's like calling a 14pt Grey Hunter with Counter Attack and Acute Senses the equivalent to a 14pt Vanilla Marine with Combat Squads and either FNP, Bolter Drill, Scout, etc. They just aren't. No detachment yet has been so good that it trumps the ability to have super scoring. And I bet if there is one, it will be a detachment of something extremely small that's super effective and used in addition to a detachment that maximizes the use of OS. But I suppose folks are happy to have things that were previously in codices now sold to them at a higher price in a package of two.

What games have you had where it came down to Objective secured every time? Most of the time here it usually doesn't matter because things get shot off rather then just left to contest.
