New Boba Fett looks interesting. IG-2000 title is non unique and very interesting. No Guri crew (though she is the Bodyguard card art), but she may be one of the StarViper pilots.

Scyk comes with GG target lock, so that's a must have for Tarn. Looks like the most expensive pilot for it is 20 points.

Scum Firesprays look to just be Boba, Kath, and Krassis, but the non unique is new, and appears to be PS5.

So are they repackaging the Firespray/Slave I? Didn't really say in the article. I assume they are, take it they won't invalidate the current version?

I understood they were just including some new cards for them in the pack with the Y-Wing and Headhunters. I didn't think it was anything else.

Steve is correct. If you look at the pictures of the stuff from the Most Wanted set you'll see new cards, new dial, and new base inserts for both the Firespray and HWK to make them Scum and Villainy faction compatible.

So I wonder if we will see YT-1300 and YT-2400 cards for scum and villainy one day.

FFG does it right again. I like the idea that I only have to purchase a box set that adds the cards I need to field the current models I have in a new way.

I'm not sure we even need them. Outer rim smuggler seems like it should be useable, and IMO Han and Chewi should fit under the "Scum and Villainy" banner, at least in A New Hope. I would expect something official sooner or later, but until then I don't think anyone would complain about using the YTs outside a tournament.

The PS8 Scyk is 20 points, so there's no way the generic PS2 will be more than 16 points. That means you could run 4 Heavy Scyks with HLC likely with points to spare.

That PS8 lets friendly ships at range 1 re-roll evade dice when defending, so imagine that little formation pew pewing with 4 dice apiece.

Shame such a hard-counter to Phantoms already exists. They were just about to shake the meta up and help encourage Imperial players to try smaller lists of elite, deadly ships, and now this comes out.

Well, that is still a lot of points to spend on an anti-Phantom, so hopefully that fact combined with their absolutely odd-ball maneuverability tricks will let them still see play.

Autoblasters are range 1 only. The more popular Phantoms generally move near last, and have the maneuverability to take them outside of range 1 (and the arc of pretty much anything except an Outrider titled 2400, which would give up firing at ANY distance except Range 1) of any ship that has moved before them. I don't see a hard counter, I see a large point sink that will offer little return.

Hopefully Derek. I'm not a huge, huge, fan of the Phantom (though I do like it quite a bit), but I do feel it is the best shot yet at really shaking up the Imperial meta in a meaningful way. Double-Firespray had a brief moment in the sun, but the premier large-based ship is going to almost exclusively be the Decimator soon, giving the "elite fighter" responsibility to good 'ole Whisper and Echo.

Not really. Only another phantom, the Lambda, B-Wings and IG-2000 can mount that combo and at least 2 of those ships aren't maneuverable enough to reliably get a phantom into arc at range 1. I'd think a bigger threat to phantoms will come in Captain Oicunn with Intimidation just running them over.

I believe you're thinking the Tie Defender larva, Phantoms can't mount cannons.

Well spotted. I was just seeing if everyone was awake.

...as apparently I am not.

Phantom can mount system upgrades and defender can mount the autoblaster but neither can take both.

Yup, forgot that Autoblasters are only range 1. That being said, there will enough turrets around after Wave 5 and Rebel Aces to keep them in check anyway. Potent, but not the dominant threat they once were. In fact the Decimator also does a good job of dealing with Swarms and formation flying, so overall, I'd say the upcoming releases area very good way of shaking up the meta and making it more varied.

I'm actually on the fence about this one. I didn't want another faction but I always thought if they did they would have to do it this way with preexisting products getting expanded in other new product boxes. For a while I've been saying just give me a booster pack of new pilot cards and I'd be happy. I wager at some point they will release S+V versions of the two rebel large ships. Perhaps in the same box as the YT-2000, or maybe even Lando's Lady Luck! Eventually when they go to reprint some of the expanded ships I imagine they will have all the pieces and cards in one kit too. I am curious if Renegade Squadron will get pilot cards?

But to be fair I am really disappointed that the Epic format didn't get any love. To have ALL that wave, Armada, and Imperial Assault roll out or be in the works and not have a Victory-2 class Frigate hanging in the wings? I am disappoint, son. :/ Perhaps next year. I guess I can wait.

There looks to be an autoblaster turret in this new wave.

I'm replacing my Firespray with the SotE one from '97 that's about 5x bigger, that I just won on ebay for $10. He with the biggest Firespray wins games, right?
