Wouldnt this be an epic win if you rolled on the sanctic table and got sanctuary?

I can only imagine what PitA it would be to get rid of 8 DA Hammernators and 2 more with 2 CMLs when led by a GK libby with sanctuary...8 out of 11 models have a 2+/2++ save.

Okay, no deathwing assault possible, but inner circle (fearless + PE CSM), split fire and vengeful strike (twin-link on the turn the DS) is still good enough bonuses for me.

Does rites of teleportation work if the GK libby is attached to the DW termies?

Rites of Teleportation only applies to units from the detachment (which DW termies are not)

Workaround: deploy on table (in cover, etc.) Use sanctuary and other relevant buffs, then cast Gate to deploy as needed. No cross detachment rules issues to worry about.

'Nids uber alles. And GK I guess . . . them too.

Pick Stern and Draigo from C:GK. Ally in 10 hammernators. Also ally in a priest from Adepta Sororitas with the auto Hymn pass relic.

You now have a 2++ unit which re-rolls saves in close combat. Sprinkle with endurance and invisibility and you have the most disgusting thing ever, with gate.

Draigo + Invisibility is overkill. Heck, stern is probably overkill. It's a sick unit, but one that can only hurt something the turn after it gates. And then it just hopes that there's something else worth charging close by the turn after that. It's mechanically awesome, but totally avoidable. Just a regular squad of 5 hammernators and the priest are probably more bang for your buck. Just stick them in a land raider or storm raven or something.

This is why good deathstars are either jump infantry or shooting based. It lets you kill something with your 900+ point unit every turn instead of every other turn.

Still, pretty sick though. More than enough for any sort of casual play. Kind of along the op's original idea to bring Dark Angels in - I've been trying to think of a way to make their 4++ force field work with sanctuary. It's just really not worth it though. The best I could think of is a gating squad with shunting dreadknights getting in really close to have a 3++ to weather the fire for a turn before assaulting. Probably not worth the trouble because of how much you'd have to bunch everything up.

I think you could do some good work just deep-striking Primary Deathwing and a Nemesis Strike Force on Turn 1. I'd be seriously considering just 1 large unit of Deathwing Terminators DSing with Belial, and have a 9-man tac squad drop-podding in with a melta, combi-melta, and Ezekiel with Pyromancy. Add Nemesis Strike Force units to taste, and just get in the enemy's face... Belial's homer could be used to guide in anyone from the Strike Force who misses out on the Turn 1 drop.

I think the libby is better off giving a 4++ to GK termies, though, in general. Even with the above setup.

While it is true that the Draigo + Invis etc star is primarily a threat via charging into melee, let's not be too quick to discount the sheer amount of hurt that the combination of offensive psychic powers and shooting can put out. Even with only the inevitable psychic shriek courtesy of the telepathy rolling libby and purge soul from draigo, you are potentially swamping a low to moderate Ld enemy with wounds that can only be saved via Invulnerable saves. When you add in stormbolter and psycannon fire, you can potentially be quite a large threat even on the turn that you gate in.
