Sounds like Harry needs to read up on his Richard II and handle the situation in propor English fashion.

I don't think HRH Harry Hewitt minds too much.

He can carry on without the weight of expectation - pr so much of it anyway.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

You fought a war of independence so the plutocrats that instigated it gained control.

Republicanism is there to sweep away old orders in favour of a new elite kept in power by giving people the change to vote every four years and be quiet subjects the rest of the time. Meanwhile the nation is run from Wall St or prior equivalent.

That's a critique but not a condemnation, as systems go it works quite well, but 'we the people' always was, is, and always will be, spin to control the masses.

This may be difficult to accept but some people might actually care about things you do not and vice versa

I take some interest in the royal families of Europe, mostly because its like a window onto history, keeping them around shows we can move on without forgetting where we came from

(Of course the only reason some monarchs are around and not others is because they happened to be on the winning side of the world wars but whatevs)

EDIT: Some would say you fought a war so that you could have the freedom to care or not about this as it pleased you. (But you actually fought a war so that a bunch of rich men could dodge taxes and keep slaves)

As for the interests in the US, 'the King' was only a placeholder for 'tyranny' back in the day, not an actual tyrant. Not since 1648 anyway.
Therefore 'the monarchy is an invented bogeymen to cement republicanism for self interest, and was never an actual threat.

Heir and spare is the traditional minimum in Europe and the optimum in those societies where large families encourage fratricide. But as the Windsors are not 13th century Venetians, there is no need to stop there.

It's just people trying to be overly serious about what was obviously a joke. Instead of laughing, they just try to kill it and wax intellectual to try to impress everyone.

I always think people over-react to this on both sides. The media pushes it a bit much but then people fly off the handle telling us how much they don't care.

It's just inoffensive and relatively happy news. I think only the staunchest anti-royal would actually have anything negative to say.

Polite apathy is how I'd describe my feelings.
