I've been looking into Dust for awhile now but don't know where to start. I will be playing with my brother and our friend and will try to get the guys at our local gaming club interested in it aswell. I am thinking of buying all three of the starter kits, Stefans, Joe's and Kashka's so people can get a feel for the different factions.

Any tips on how to play, what to get model wise and I see they have a v2 now so what other cards I should buy.

Thanks guys, and if you have no idea what im talking about.

I imagine quite a few players are waiting for the Dust Kickstarter to fulfil before they can play.

Tacticool always trumps tactics

I love Dust, but nobody wants to play anymore because the factions seem very out of balance.

Axis is amazing, there's supposedly only 1 way to play SSU - swarm, swarm, swarm and never take any walkers. Allies are kind of middle of the road.

Maybe the stuff from the kickstarter changes all this, but until then I can't even get in a game...

See I wish I knew that, I play DUST and I demo it for my friends. I have the starter kit and an extra German walker, some gorillas ect. I also added some SSU tanks and Heavy Guard cause I wanted to start the SSU. My friends really enjoy the game (they have a general blast cause of the alternate WW2 setting). I enjoy it but I always tried to find the balance in the game but there is not much of a community out there to really explore it. I only ever find people with their own ideas and plans, and while it seems great I don't have that much money to spend on potentially balanced games. Whole that is said, I think DUST has A LOT of potential if a bunch of communities could get started. Overall even though I demo the game ect, I would still like some help about how to make a balanced game/what to get.

However long story short , people will play it but it requires a lot of ground work on your part to start it up. Also I am at a loss for balance.

Gods Country - ENGLAND

There are 2 games when discussing DUST. There is DUST Tactics and DUST Warfare. Tactics is played on a Board marked out with a Grid. Warfare is your Tape Measure and Dice Game. I’ve never played Warfare.

DUST Tactics however, I describe as the most interesting and best tactical game on the market bar none. It (in my opinion) is very balanced if you only use the models that were available at the time of the Campaign you are playing. DUST Tactics has the Core Set which contains a Campaign. If you then use other models that were introduced in other Campaigns, it tends to unbalance the game. For Example, If I’m playing the Second Campaign, Operation Cyclone, If I only use the models that were available at the time of its release, it’s a great, challenging, and very balanced campaign for both sides. If I bring in units that were available to buy when the 3rd Campaign, Operation Seelowe was released, the Campaign would become very unbalanced. For the first Mission on Operation Cyclone, if I took a certain Allied Unit that was only available from the Operation Seelowe Campaign, you can potentially win in Turn 2 and the Axis Forces have no defence against it. That same unit however, used in Operation Seelowe where it was introduced, produces no such unfair advantage.

It’s a great game that really can turn victories from defeats at any point, so it really does keep both players fully engaged. I’d start with the Core set, then I’d buy each of the Campaigns in turn, and the models each Campaign introduces if you are playing the Tactics version of the DUST Game. As I said, I’ve no experience of the Warfare version.

Hope this helps.

A bit of everything really....... Titanicus, Bolt Action, Cruel Seas, Black Seas, Blood Red Skies, Kingdom Death, Relic Knights, DUST Tactics, Zombicide the lit goes on.............

The above post did help, thanks SecretSquig. I knew there were the two different versions (Tactics/Warfare) but I did not realize one was grid and the other dice and tape. I kinda thought they both were dice and tape.

I am more interested in Warfare with the new knowledge I have, but thanks for the info on Tactics and I might give the grip style game a try.

There's also Dust Battlefield. It's tactics with every movement and range multiplied by 4, played without a grid, and a few added rules like suppression. It's in the new 2.0 rules.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

I'm hoping to get some people at my club interested in it in the near future. Have an axis tactics starter but have never played.
