The eye of terror

I'm sure I won't be the only one starting a blog for Infinity right now, the game is exploding in popularity with good reason. If I hadn't been so lazy with my hobbying this last year I could have started this one sooner as I got my first models for Christmas last year.

So to start with I have a small Aleph force, though they'll probably be on the back burner seeing as I'm currently playing through the O:I missions making PanO the priority. I started towards the official scheme, but I'm not 100% sure I'm heading in the right direction, or if I want to continue with it at all. Still metal minis are easy to strip so I'll finish a couple and see how they look before making a decision, the official scheme is part of what drew me to them so it would be a shame not to at least try it.

I've also got the PanO half of O:I to work on, as well as a hexas I bought for a dakka Infinity painting comp which I never got round to doing and a cosplay bolt (because why would I not get it). I won't be working on the Nomad half as it's not mine! Just got back from a little shopping trip to get a few more paints for them so expect progress soon on these.

Then there's just the Mercs, honestly I can't wait for the Acheron Falls supplement, there's just something about the idea of an army based around mercenaries that appeals to me, a chance to do every unit in a different scheme sounds perfect. I would just about kill to get my hands on a max scorpio or battlefoam yuan yuan, but what I wouldn't do is pay the prices they go for on eBay in the once in a blue moon they come up.

So that's the relatively dull starter images out of the way, I've yet to get much in the way of terrain done as I'm waiting on a Games&Gears board to arrive so I can size things up first, I'd hate to finish a big piece only to find there was no way not to have it hanging over the road. Oh and I forgot to take a pic for the bootleg Penthesilea but she's only assembled and primed black, and she'll be later in the queue for when I'm feeling more confident with Infinity minis.

Time to get painting.

So I got some of the blues done today, gonna have to learn how to brighten these pictures properly I don't doubt there's a guide out there somewhere. Roughly following Giraldez's guide from his facebook album but as per usual he's gone a little 'detail light' so I'm having to make some leaps. Think the Hexas will sit on the sidelines till I do the CSU since they're both in darker palletes. Shop was missing a couple of colours from his guide so it's either search out somewhere online or make rough approximations.

Are you going to do the Giraldez scheme for Pan'O too? Nice start

Well, you may have fought your own lazyness to start another blog but you have also inspired me to break my usual lazynes and say something (which I usually don't, I'm sapnish so, bla, bla, not-quite-good english, bla, bla), so, hello!, I'm not a great fan of PanO blue, although playing Yu Jing may affect my opinions regarding anything PanO but looks like you have a good start, there is only so much you can do with an airbrush thought, things will only get harder from there.

@Soulcow - Thanks and I am indeed as will become more apparent with the photo update!

@Boss S - Thank you kindly, bit more pressure on now to get them done

@Aldo - Aye airbrushes definitely aren't the miracle tool some people think they are but they do lay a good foundation, hopefully these PanO will convert you away from the second greatest power

Not got a huge amount further as I'm a little busy with other things (and another army), started laying down some of the foundation colours though and added a very fine wash of dark prussian blue to some recesses to give a little more depth, will need to repeat it with blacks as well once the rest of the foundations are down. Had to strip the cosplay bolt's face back to metal as for some reason the paint really gummed on her and I'd hate to obscure Tabitha! Tried to improve my photos a little as well so hopefully that will help, images are as always zoomable in the gallery if it's coming across a little small on the blog.

Oh and don't mind the facing markers on some of them we're still playing through the O:I missions between painting.

Long time no updates!

I started working on my chaos blog again last weekend, decided the infinity needed dusting off too while I was at it.

Started work on a scenery piece this weekend so it's rather a compressed WIP since it's basically the only piece I've done in amongst everything else I had to do this weekend.

As is rather the theme for me, this is a waste not piece, which happens to have once contained booze.

Simple enough, since it won't actually fill much board space as the container itself is rather narrow.

Priming and pre-shading out of the way I decided to find a use for one of the raging heroes figures I had previously struggled to find a use for.

I can forsee a lot more 'spare figures' finding their way into being statues of one form or another. Decided to go for a blue theme on the building itself.

What it really needs now is a sign, but the printer is out of action, and there's nothing in stencil form that takes my fancy for the lettering. Leaning towards the name 'Pan-circular', a discrete business ensuring first class accommodation on the circulars for Pan-O citizens, and 'discrete' transportation for all manner of 'exotic' objects.

I've also acquired the USAriadna starter, however shamefully I still don't have a single one of my infinity figures fully finished still, so will have to weave them in with the chaos stuff that's been patiently waiting this weekend.

The building is looking very nice so far, I like the statue idea.

Thanks Giraffe, still not progressed much further with it, sort of left it in the spare room and forgot about it till just now

Got a few more bits for the city board, was surprised how long it took to get the flash off of the bottom of the cars from Antenociti's, very solid block on the bottom which raised the wheels about 1cm off the ground.

Also the micro arts studios pieces for the signs definitely needing trimming to fit, as some of it was impossible to get together (leading to more than slight frustration when a piece of mdf snapped).

I'm beginning to see what people mean about needing a lot of terrain to fill an infinity board, as I'm still miles away from even the density in operation icestorm.

So the PanO made it back onto the painting desk, acquired Joan of Arc since I last painted any of the Infinity stuff so I wanted to get her to a similar stage before progressing.

Started the greys to build up to whites now, next up will be defining the panels with thinned down black or prussian blue. I still haven't picked a basing theme for them yet either, but all the PanO will end up on the same theme regardless of sectorials.

Its good to see you picking up the PanO again. You've reminded me that I still don't have the Tabitha mini, I really must pick her up at some point.

Hey Giraffe, she does make a nice mini, it's rather fortunate she's the only one they haven't made quite so limited, though I do find the specials a bit hit and miss lately. Really wasn't a fan of rifle Van Zant compared to the axe and pistol version, but apparently that puts me in the minority

Been trying out one of angels techniques of seemingly random lines of highlight across a panel, as well as finishing off the 'whites' on all of them now (barring the coat on the nisse).

Still a good way to go on most of them but don't want to rush them, as it's not like you have to paint hundreds of figures for Infinity, so you might as well make each of them count.
