The rules are:

1. You must make a legal 40k 3000 point army.
2. No forgeworld.
3. No unbound.
4. Lowest total model count wins!

Every model that you would place on the table counts, i.e. every transport model that is separate from the figure counts as a model. e.g. a biker on his bike counts as one model, but a marine in a land raider counts as two models as you have two physically separate models. If a model has two characters on the same base, this counts as one model.

Go!

Four Shadowswords and a Land Raider.

Legal Unbound army.

No Forge World models.

Is that 3000 points?

On the dot. 4 Shadowswords are 2750 points, and you know how much a Land Raider is.

It's possible I've misremembered the points cost on a Shadowsword, but they're either 500 or 550, so I went with the higher number. If it's 500, then just plain five Shadowswords. Same model count though.

Hmmm. Maybe I should add "no unbound".

No unbound, no forgeworld than something like codex: imperial knights stands out.

8 Paladin Knights costs exactly 3000 points, and they're legal to field alright.

Yeah.
An army of Imperial Knights would be the answer.

Otherwise I think from a "normal army" stanpoint, Grey Knights are your answer. Lots of Paladins and Stormravens

GW is scared of girls. Why do you think they have so much trouble sculpting attractive female models? Because girls have cooties and the staff at GW don't like looking at them for too long because it makes them feel funny in their naughty place.

s
Right.

This was actually my first thought: Draigo, Librarians, Paladins, Stormravens, Dreadknights, Dreads.

Devestating Grey Knight Dreadknight

Time to put that list together.

Grand Master
Draigo
5-man Termie
Dreadknight
Dreadknight
10-man Pally
10-man Pally

This is assuming fully loaded, with loadouts like 10 hammers with 10 digital weapons. I mean with some manipulation of formations I could get it to under 20, but for one formation? This is it, 30 model 3k army 60 wounds all under 2+ armor.

Blood-Drenched Death Company Marine

Little Rock, Arkansas

Well discounting IK's that can easily do it...

In BA, my submission is a 29 model count army

The Sanguinor as warlord
jump pack Death Company, Lemartes, 25 dual wielding thunder hammers, 1 with thunder hammer and hand flamer (to make the points come out right.) as first troop unit.
1 DC dreadnought with either claws or talons as second troop unit.

3k on the dot.

Also my submission for WORST 3k point army at the same time

Correction:

Lowered to:
Sanguinor
Lemartes and 9 jump pack DC dual wielding thunder hammers, 1 dual wielding fists.
2 DC dreads with magna grapple/heavy flamer and talons
3 furioso librarians.
3 storm ravens to carry some dreads with typhoon ML, hurricane bolters, extra armor and locator beacon.

again 3k on the dot, this time down to 20 models. Pure codex, no formations, lords of war, or 2nd sources. I think I could drop a DC dread and a DC to fit mephiston in to make it 19 as well.

Frightening Flamer of Tzeentch

You can get even lower, and have a mostly TZ themed list like the above.

Just use the Tzeentch greater Daemon, who is 999 points. Sprinkle in 2 fully loaded Lord of Changes, as ,many Tzeentch 355 point princes that will fit. Nurglings for base troops.

Watch as your own LOW decimates your own army as he is required to shoot at the Greater Daemons. lol

Aftermath can be calculated.

Codex Marines (Ultramarines)

2x CM on bikes, loaded (~280 each) (Calgar could be subbed for one, but you can make them more expensive as built your own)

3 Dreadnoughts @ 175 ea.

2 5 man bike squads, @200 ea.

Stormtalon w/TML 145

5 man Dev Cent squad with the works, in a LRC loaded (w sgt. chronos) 805

2 more LRs, loaded @285 ea.

24 models, ~3k points. Might be able to go lower by tricking out command squads or vanguard vets.

I forgot about fortifications (although anyone could use them). A tricked out fortress of redemption can rack up a lot of points fast.

Aetaos is FW, so is out, otherwise nids win with heirophants or eldar with phantoms.

Yeah nids do it best because their bugs get expensive, but i will say my FMC list above would actually be a pain in the ass and has no real useless upgrades. Switch the herald for another FMC and shave points elsewhere, change some of them to slaanesh.
