Hey guys,

I was thinking about starting an IG/AM army, probably first trying killteam, because I can start really small.
I want to try and convert/personalize things, and I was thinking of painting catachans as ork hunters to spice things up already, but I also need to know if the wfb chaos marauders match the catachan arms to make kanak skull taker type of guys. I should have 10 lasguns, laspistols flamers and also some arms left of my scions box, so if they fit, I should be good with one box of catachans and marauders just to start off, it would make me happy ^^
Also, how do people get their special weapons? Do I really need to buy the command squad for that? :/ And should I expand to 40k and fit 2 veteran squads with each 3 special weapon options in a 500pt game, I would have to buy 3 command squads, right? Or could I buy the special weapon sprues with melta/plasma that gw sells, I don't know how hard it is to cut and paste these into guard hands?

For special weapons you either get the command box, convert from bits found on ebay from other kits (though they never look right size wise), or find older metal Catachans with special weapons on ebay. You can get them for a decent price if you're patient and don't mind cleaning the minis of previous paint jobs.

In my opinion the Marauder arms look fine on Catachan torsos. You'll want to do a little work to make the weapons look better for 40K, but that's really a matter of personal taste.

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. Grrr.

I used s combination of marauders, beastmen gors, & catachan arms with orkish or crude melee weapons to make my Armageddon Ork hunters.

I'll be the differing opinion, I think the maraduer arms are big on IG, if it were me. (Which it may be at some point soon!) I would use the standard catachan arms but use the axe bits from the maraduers boxes. The sprues each come with at least one single axe that doesn't have a hand holding it, And a wealth of bits that are just a little trimming away from perfect.

Plus the bits are cheaper than a whole box!
