I am trying to find some gifts for my boyfriend who loves warhammer. Are they any just small things he may need to help with his painting and converting process? He has an airbrush/compressor. And I know he is interesting in building some terrain in the future. I've already picked up a few models that I've sniped from his list but I'd just like to add some thoughtful things he might like. Sorry is this isn't allowed, if it isn't please let me know and I will delete it.

Green stuff, foliage/ground cover, liquid green stuff, mediums such as pumice gels. All good things for making terrain.
In terms of just generalities for hobby stuff, paints and glue are always good things & welcome stocking stuffers (at least from my perspective).

First of all. You may have just won the girlfriend of the year award.
Anyway, paints, glues, brushes are awesome for stuffers.
Plus, seeing as you have already picked up some models for him, just pick up some very day supplies for him.
Cork is awesome for basing. And building up minor (and major) details for terrain. You can also pick up basing and terrain kits from many hobby shops. Even dollar stores carry flashing and suck for terrain and bases.

What kinds or glues and brushes are best? Sorry, I don't know a lot about the fine details.

Girlfriend on the year award indeed. Anything from Secret Weapon Miniatures or other companies like army painter, things like flock, leaves, realistic water, craters, independent characters from GW, all this is good stuff.
It's just a factor of how much you are willing to pay.

I actually looked at that terrain because I ordered him a model from there. I don't think it would fit with his theme though, he's doing a heavily converted iron hands army which has adeptus mechanicus elements. And is working on finishing a wood elves one as well which he is actually doing a cherry blossom/water theme with that army. :( I wish it was that easy

Well you may have some better luck trying the ForgeWorld 40k terrain area. You probably checked it out already but their 40k terrain selection is way more robust than the one terrain board they have for Fantasy:

No worries!
Super-glue works just fine on models, but if you feel sneaky, sit in on his next painting session and pay attention to the glue he uses but cover it up with wanting to learn to paint Elmers glue (normal white glue) works great for terrain and basing.
I use the artist's loft brushes from micheals. For my model painting, I go to the section where you can buy individual brushes that are made with sable hair. Sizes 0 up to size 2 round brushes are what I use. For bigger stuff and odd tasks, you can get their synthetic brush packages (these make awesome disposable brushes for things like glue, drybrushing and metallics)

Oh Iron hands, awesome. Machinator makes some amazing stuff here at Dakka, might be ironhandy. The others made some great suggestions but, if he's ever working on tanks or lighting here you go.

Girlfriend of the century! Not only do you want to support his hobby, but you actually took enough of an interest in it to understand what he's doing with it!
If he's looking to expand into scenery, check out aquarium pieces at the pet store, and craft stores in general. Tubs of fine and medium sand, pea gravel, cork, high-quality brushes of a somewhat larger size than used for minis, clear resin for water effects, all sorts of stuff can be found.
But avoid the craft paints unless you know he's using them. Yes, they're a lot cheaper than the hobby paints like GW and P3, but the pigment density is significantly lower as well. They can be used for minis, but the techniques are somewhat different.
I've also seen formulas for homemade washes involving craft inks and acrylic medium. It's a bit pricy to start up - a quart of acrylic medium can be over $15 dollars, and inks are around $3 each - but he'll be able to mix a LOT of washes for less money than the premixed washes, and he'll be able to make custom washes for his own use as well.

Thanks all of you, you've given me some great ideas. I appreciate all of your replies! I'm not into warhammer much myself, but I am extremely excited to watch both of these armies come to life.
Also, do you guys know by any chance if models from say coolminiornot are tournament legal? I know my boyfriend doesn't play at GW stores, and to my knowledge he doesn't play in GW events. Am I best off contacting someone from the local scene about this?

In general, the only people who care about players only using GW minis are the ones working for GW. 99% of everyone else couldn't care less.
I suppose it wouldn't hurt to double-check with the local groups though, just to be sure.

Razor saws are great for terrain building & converting & come in various sizes (sometimes with a mitre box too).
I've also found that the Tamiya plastic scriber is really useful as is a decent metal ruler with finger guard & non-slip base.
A metal T-square is another idea as is a cutting mat - for terrain I use an A1 sized one but these are pretty expensive.
A 1 litre jug of wood / white / PVA / Elmers glue (all the same thing, just different names - for terrain) and / or a large bottle of Tamiya X-20A thinners (for when he's air-brushing) won't go to waste either.
You can get large tubes of GS too which are much better value then the strips that GW sells ($12 for 20g!). You can get the tubes from here. It's $22.95 for 100g! & that's just from the 1st store I found on google. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh - also a set of mini-drill bits (search on Amazon) & a pin-vice if he hasn't got one already.

This is a pretty good terrain set and its nice to get away from all the grim dark stuff while still having a nice battle torn city. Automatically Appended Next Post: Should mention that one is the middle ground for terrain, there is a smaller set and obviously a larger one
