Saw this and thought I would share. Love the concept and it makes sense.[url] http://apocalypse40k.blogspot.com/2014/12/end-times-for-40k.html?m=1

Guilliman was always the most likely to return. Held in stasis with a mortal wound, correct? But I haven't liked a single 'story' Ultramarines book by Graham McNeill, so even if the rumor is true, I'm not looking forward to it. Still, no matter what reservations I have about it, I'll still end up buying and reading it.

I can only hope it ends the Horus Heresy series and we can go back to Space Marines being Space Marines instead of delicate little snowflakes crying to each other about their doubts and feelings.

End Times for 40K?

End time for 40K is coming!

At the recent Black Library Weekender, some interesting things came up. The most significant of which was vastly overlooked. The End Times for 40K is coming. Remember that little bit in the 6th edition Rule book that said there was a flaw in the Golden Throne? Well, that little hint has grown into a full blown story line.

Graham McNeil said he had to got approval from the powers (probably due to the success of the End Times in Warhammer) to bring a similar story to 40K. And it will start with the Ultramarines.

He has to write Crimson King first, then Battle for Macragge a space marine battle novel, then on to...Guilliman. That is right, the Primarch of the Ultramarines is coming back! It will be part of the next Ultramarine story arc. He also said he is back for good, not just as a plot device to be put away when finished with.

Hmmmmm........

I for one, cannot wait to see most of the good guy Primarchs come back.

Awful. 40k is already End Times. Three straight editions have rammed that home in the BRB.

Maybe they'll call it End Times: The End Times.

Anyways, they'll wake Guilliman up to fix The Golden Throne's flush valve. Sounds fetch.

Robot Girlyman isn't the only Primarch alive.

Lion El'Jonson is also not dead. He's in some mysterious state. That's the biggest secret of the Dark Angels, after all. This could nicely finish up the Cypher story arc that was pretty much forgotten.

We also have Khan, Russ, Vulkan, and Corax are all also running around The Warp, The Eye, or the Webway doing their own thing. GW wants money, and pumping out Primarchs outside of Forge World is a good way for them to virtually print money outside of a plastic Thunderhawk.

Although I think an End Times type thing will come to Wh40K, I can't really take this seriously.

The part where the author, regardless if you like his work, is a veteran of the business and knows the industry, comes out and says "Hey! I got the go ahead to advance the plot of WH40K, and I'm bringing Guilliman back, and he's back for good!" What that veteran author did is reveal a future event well ahead of its time(End Times for 40k), revealed that certain characters are coming back(at least one primarch) , and then ruined any literary tension that their return brings("He's back for good") and how it plays out. I don't see that happening. Its certainly possible, sure, but I think GW keeps their employees on a short leash when it comes to rumors, and that Graham would be that unprofessional just seems too far fetched.

My take: The Guilliman novel is a Horus Heresy novel and someone read too much into it.

While I too would be somewhat sceptical of the delivery of this particular news in this particular fashion... as an idea it's not far fetched.

While the studio has said in the past that the Primarchs would never be a part of the game, back then the game didn't include Titans as a regular fixture either.

Introducing the Primarchs in LoW slots would make perfect sense with the current direction of the game.

My first thought - mmmm, salty!

My second thought - there simply aren't enough skulls in the world for GW to do a 40K era version of any Primarch. If they do, it will be £85 for a monopose plastic, single sprue, while FW continue to quietly turn out superior resin versions for £60-odd.

This seems like one of those rumors that kinda writes itself - Warhammer End Times has definitely gotten a lot of attention (in no small part due to the excellent models) so a 40k End Times wouldn't be a bad idea either. If it's true it could be really cool, but I don't really know what this guy's reliability is as a rumormonger, even if he did allegedly talk with Graham McNeil. Even so, this is something that would likely be years away if it were the case.

THE END TIMES ARE (NOT) COMING…
POSTED ON DECEMBER 5, 2014 | 0 COMMENTS
The End Times are (not) Coming…
To quote the late, great Brian Glover, “This is rumour control, here are the facts…”
You may have seen a few rumours flying around t’interweb about the end times of 40k.
40k is NOT ending (well, beyond the mechanisms of the Golden Throne failing, the constant encroachments of alien invaders and the insidious corruption of Chaos…).
Context is everything…
This all came about after a conversation I had at the BL Weekender III, where I talked about things I’d LIKE to do in the next Ultramarines trilogy (not necessarily GETTING to do, but which I’d LIKE to do). One of the things I said was that I thought it’d be fun to bring Guilliman back, “probably not in a literal way, but in some form or another, and that such an event would, naturally, have further ramifications for the Chapter…”. I also said that I’d floated a bunch of ideas past the guys at editorial and had received a cautious, “That sounds pretty cool,” response.
And that’s it. That’s as far as any “progress” on this has gone.
So, get those panties unbunched, those knickers untwisted. Keep Calm and Keep Playing 40K.
See ya,

Maybe for the best.
You'd think GW would want to do 40K End Times. Gives them the opportunity to produce shiny new kits and giganto hardback books for us to gobble down.

Did an official GW source just acknowledge that a rumor on the internet exists?

Holy gak.

If they ever do it, it won't be anywhere as spectacular as you hope. I think we're going to see a pretty generic X good guys vs X bad guys setup. Do the math:

Good guys
Rowboat Girlyman - regenerating in stasis
El Johnson - hiding in the rock
Russ - Doing some recreational warp tour
Corax - Probably same as russ
Khan - same. they didn't try to mix that up, eh?
Vulkan - waiting for respawn
Totals : 6

Bad guys
Angron - DP
Fulgrim - DP
Mortarion - DP
Perturabo - DP
Magnus - DP
Lorgar - DP.
Totals: 6

Plus Alpharius and Omegon who'll probably split up in an "unforseen, dramatic turn of events(c)", rest is probably dead.

No.

McNeill is not employed by GW (anymore).

He's just a freelance author writing for FFG, roleplaying games and, sometimes, BL.

Can you back this up a bit - I've seen a lot of references to WHFB's "End Times" but don't know what it actually is.
