Hello everyone,
Recently, because of a shortage of bitz, I was forced to come up with a meltagun conversion. I think it actually looks legit and I'll admit that this surprises me. Here's what the end result looks like:

I wasn't really planning on posting so I don't have pictures about how I did it, but it should be simple enough. I used: a lasgun (with both hands on it), an autocannnon, a rangefinder from one of the Heavy Weapon Squad kits (supposed to be used on the mortar, I believe) and a mechanical arm with Power Sword (the one in the Cadian Command Squad kit).

1. Cut off the lasgun's power pack, bayonet lug and the thick part of the muzzle/bushing(?). You won't need these later. Also, cut off the horizontal pole/bar thing as well as the rear block. This is a little vague, but you can see what I mean from the above picture.

2. Cut off the autocannon's thick part of the muzzle/bushing. You will need this later.

3. Cut the pipe off the mechanical arm. You will need this later.

4. With all the parts prepared, all that's left to do is connect the autocannon bushing to the front end of the lasgun, the pipe to where the powerpack used to connect to and the rangefinder/sensor thing to the side of the lasgun, sort of like the canister on actual meltaguns. If the finished result looks anything like that thing in the picture, congratulations! You're done!

I hope this helped or entertained you! If you have comments or criticism, feel free to post.

Looks like you glued a beer can on a lasgun.

I saw a tutorial on here that made a really good meltagun from the grenade launcher, I believe.

Good work, I can see the need for it. I'm wondering how to make that a little bit closer in appearance to a Melta Gun though, perhaps making the main part of the gun thicker?

You say Fiery Crash! I say Dynamic Entry!

*Increases Game Point Limit by 100*: Tau get two Crisis Suits and a Firewarrior. Imperial Guard get two infantry companies, artillery support, and APCs.

Wow, that one looks great! Unfortunately, I don't have any modeling clay like GS. :S

Thats not really an excuse. You can buy some greenstuff at gw or go to hobby store for the grey stuff even cheaper.

It's the bulk on the main body of the weapon that really makes the difference, without that the muzzle looks oversized.

Yeah nice... Come into someone's thread, hijack it to showoff your own gakky conversion and then give him grief for not doing it your way.

Bravo.

Edit: Forgot to write what I came into here to write...

Looks good Auroch. It's quick and effective looking. The autocannon muzzle is a little large for my taste, but it does work.

Nice one!
