When tthe helldrake has the baleflamer can it use the flamer against other flyers? and can it vector strike against flyers? if not is there anything a helldrake can do to battle flyers?

The Baleflamer is a Template weapon, and Templates can't hit flyers. Unless they're hovering, but I don't think that's what you were getting at.

The Helldrake may Vector Strike another flyer, which is in it's best interest since they do more hits against flyers than other models.

However, the rule preventing Blast and Templates from hitting does not apply to FMC, so there is that.

Also you can equip a Heldrake with the Hades Autocannon, which can shoot flyers just fine.

Im going after ground targets with the drake so i was wondering what my options were if it came to flyer V flyer battle. Now its just a choise between autocannon and flamer

Don't forget that Vector Strikes with a Heldrake always go against the side armour of a vehicle. Even other flyers. And it is not a shooting attack so they can't jink from it.

Just bear in mind it can only have one or the other. So ask yourself: Do you want to burn things or dakka things?

And unless you are running three imho burning is always better.

Doesn't a flyer get to choose whether it has skyfire/inteercepter every turn? Which would allow it to shoot without firing snapshots? Which would then allow it to shoot blast/template weapons as normal, even against flyers? I don't remember a rule that says blast and templates cannot be fired at flyers, only that they cannot be fired as snap shots, which would normally prevent it, with the above exception. Someone please point me to this rule in the BRB because I can't find it.

Small Rulebook, Page 85, Flyers; Special Rules Section - "Zooming Flyers can choose whether or not to use the Skyfire special rule (page 171) at the start of each Shooting phase."

No mention of Interceptor, however. Skyfire isn't enough to fire the Baleflamer at another Flyer though...

Note that if the Flyer can Hover and is currently in Hover mode it can be hit with Templates and Blasts. Hovering Flyers are treated exactly as Fast Skimmers. So, a Heldrake that has chosen to use Skyfire can hit a Hovering Flyer with its Baleflamer. In any other situation it won't work.

Neat, good to know. Would you really need to elect to be skyfiring to shoot a hovering flyer? I thought they were treated as skimmers, really wish I had my book with me haha. Probably just confused between 6th and 7th maybe.

Yeah, you don't really need Skyfire to hit a Hovering Flyer. I wasn't thinking! It happens occassionally.
