Well I have had another busy hobby weekend and am pleased to have finished a five man heavy weapons squad for my 1980s Rogue Trader Army. These guys are all the same lead model from 1988 so I have tried to add variation by giving each trooper individual markings.

I am doing a few heavy weapons squads at the moment in order to bring this 80's force in line with the army lists for Horus Heresy 30k. There are more pictures of these troops and other 80s stuff on my blog if you fancy visiting for a read:

Very cool and I live seeing the old models still being used.

The only poorly painted miniature is the one that is not painted.

Cheers for the kind words guys! There are some older photos of the whole army on my blog but I will try and do a more recent group shot for you and get it posted when I get some free time.

Agreed – Oldhammer40k is a great blog

Lovely work on the Salamander Devastators. Will the Crimson Fists be receiving reinforcements too? Might be a good excuse to differentiate your armies, if one goes Heresy-era and one remains 40k...

Cheers! I am hoping to do some more Crimson Fists in the future but my primary goal is to get the Salamanders up to fighting strength. I have Eight Rhinos and not enough troops to fill them at the moment!!

I also want to bulk out my sisters of battle army a bit too as it is fairly short on infantry.

So much to do...so little time!

Beautiful! Can't wait to see some of the other RT era Salamanders paint schemes - Officers, special units (Chaplain, Medic, etc.).

Actually I do have a chaplain, a Terminator Captain and a jump pack equipped Lieutenant. For some reason I deleted the photos of those; I shall retake them. I need to so a medic and a techmarine in the near future!! Oh and a librarian...and a terminator librarian!!

Apparently I do have a couple actually...

Many thanks mate. I got most of my Rhinos off EBay a while back. I noticed recently the price has gone up of late with certain traders (we all know who) falsely driving the asking price up. I personally would never pay more than 25 quid for an old school rhino so when I see the traders demanding 50 quid or more for one I just wet myself laughing. The only drama is other sellers see these prices and believe them to be the true value.

My advice is to keep waiting, inevitably one will come up in the future from a genuine seller at a reasonable price!

Don't worry about it. Bargains are frequently available so it'll come around again.
