Its built into our genes i think , men have to take over from any women in eyesight or earshot at physical work otherwise we have no real use in life .. Even if we are no good at the physical things we are trying to do , But as you say , Women do tend to take full advantage of our inherent Machismo, and then complain after wards I remeber last Christmas , there was a Lady on my street and her car was stuck, in the ice, and there's me , fresh from a invigorating jog , pumped full of testosterone, offering to help, but she really didnt want any of it , untill her husband came out and he was like , come on then lets move this car, not wanting to be outdone by a neighbour, ( men and pride and Machismo , its a powerfull mix)
so we moved the car together ... only to get it stuck in a far worse position than when we started She wasnt happy ! and i skulked off home rather sheepishly... lesson learned i think Women are never in distress ! , even when your alpha male meter is flashing alert alert!
so its a webway portal your studio then... very nice!

i have to admit i am a total control freak...and i do understand your comet miss dee....thats the way my wife must have felt before i took over the complete kitchen...its even worse when she wants to use the computer then the silence i produce is killing small insects and birds around the block...
but to tell you all something, such a manly work a s ripping doorframes and pulling or pushing big stuff around i would also not only ou of machismo but also because it feels grat to let the hounds of hell loose... we men are sometimes caged animals. we want to be running around chsaing stuff, wrestle it to the floar and feast on its belly...even if it is a big wooden box or a bike that has to be carried four storey up....
you do realize now that men cant be truly civilized no matter hw old inteligent or educated we are ....do women understand that...i doubt that...

Well that all sounds about right! Relationships - how do they ever get off the ground I will never know... Like the bumble bee; some how they fly.
I really should paint some thing as this is getting off topic and straying dangerously close to a discussion of gender politics.
Also tommorow I have to get finished on the first six mugs so I will try and remember to take my camera and get some shots of the warhammer themed ones.
I Know a guy who does that rubber sword roleplay in the woods stuff who says he wants some dark age style table ware for the after fight feasts - I did a whole project on dark age and medieval pottery so that one is in the bag. Just gotta get some brown clay - messy stuff.
Think I'm going for something chaosy

I know the ones - have you seen the erotic ones? they are a laugh a minute - dont click on this link unless you are ready for ancient meso american filth - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Fellatiomoche.jpg
But yes in all seriousness I do love a nice bit of meso-american pot...
I've started painting a mini who was sold to me as "the first ever space marine scout" but he looks more like a proto - goliath. I cant find him in stuff of legends.

More cream ma lady... lol can you sculpt one of those , on second thoughts never mind its no doubt a fertility jug , 3 is more than enough for me. the 1st scouts did look like goliaths they had mohawks and huge knives, but they also had the bell bottom boots that sp wear. albeit a little smaller.

I have a friend who is a sculpter called bob , and he can sculpt anything , he specialises in historic samurai and stuff like that, but he makes a living selling naked busts and 80's style amazonian chicks with erotic weapons.. like the heavy metal comic. i cant help but think , what a waste, he could make some great sci fi models

Heres my cyber punk, proto goliath, scout(?) of slightly mysterious origin - He has a bolt pistol with a chain-bayonet on his back so he is almost certainly warhammer related
I had a go at ying-yangs - they always look nice on a mini and are definitely old-school these days

I use the army painter insane detail brush - its their second smallest and the most reasonably priced sable brush of this quality I have found so far - but it doesnt say what size it is? its very small and pointy.

hmmm there are some items i still refuse to buy via internet...funny as i spend /t millions^^ on minis so far via ebay. but i was always hesitant to buy me brushes over ebay...
in germany i havent seen anywhere armypainter products so far...we do have however brushes with sometimes rather sad quality in sizes down to 0/10 so this so far the smallest size i had optained so far. i have however heard from a dakka member there are brushtips size 0/20...
but all in all its true to the saying size doesnt matter, i have done on numerous acounts details with just a 1 or 0 size brush and i have to say that the smaller the brush is it cant hold enough paint in its hairs to get a good line...
do you see those problems with your small size brushes too? and if yes how do you cope with it?
for me to get on another painting level really boils down on how to do highlighting and other detail stuff i am currently not able to do so, come to either tool or thechnique...

Yeah I have problems with the very small brushes and running out of paint - but if you really want to do very small details you just have to keep recharging the brush with paint and occasionally washing the brush to prevent build up of dry paint ruining the smoothness of brush strokes. I've always loved this kind of really fine detailed work - you were saying in your blog about the zen-like meditative state you get into when modelling. Thats why I got into the crafts like pottery and jewellery.
Speaking of crafts I'm afraid there are still no updates on the warhammer themed mugs - they have needed me in work due to seasonal busyness - but I can get back to it on wednesday hopefully

no need to rush as i said before, there lots of ocasions to need a new gift mug...^^
your absolutly right about the paintbuild up and the constant recharging of the brush when doing details. i just think one could get more better results if the brush could hold more paint, yet stay undried...well i know its not going to happen as i dont want to use chemicals when painting.

Thats the thing - I hear through others that before I ever raised a brush people used to use oil-based paints originating from model train and aeroplane painting. But if my experience with artists oil paints are anything to go by it must have been dire, no more licking the brush, newspaper everywhere to protect things, stinky turps or linseed oil for cleaning or thinning - I wouldn't be able to paint in bed anymore thats for sure - but the paint certainly wouldn't dry on the brush in a hurry

YOU PAINT IN BED????? omg thats either dedication to the max or something truly insane...am i guessing right that its something close in between?
so if you wake up from a paintsession in bed your the one who is guilty of painting yourself a mustache on?^^
jep i would never ever use any other color than waterbased colors. not even for household uses would i use wax or any thing like that. after all i got kids running around and stuff. and the smell would make my wife nauseous and i cant have that for sure....she tolerates my endeavors for now but would totally go spare if i started smelly things...i used epoxy once, four hours before she returned from work and all she said was: "what has died here?"...
who said the cure is smetimes worse than the illness?

heh, I was one of those who started off using mainly Humbrol enamels, I can't recall having newspaper everywhere, and I was certainly a brush-licker back then (Yes, I know that explains so much...).
In some respects I found it easier to paint with them, no thinning and even for someone with my sloth-like painting speed blending was easily achievable, however cleaning brushes was a pain, and easier to ruin brushes too.
