Subject: Re:ultramarines and goffs armys and fuff-update 3.3.12-trukk to battlewagon conversion-grots!
Hi guys,
Update! Now I know it’s been a very long time since i was on dakka! This is because of a poor internet connection, going away for about a week and being busy at school.
Anyway, I've got a huge update! Firstly I’ve gone through 2 faulty replacements for my Warhammer 40k 25th anniversary model, I received the second one today and called up customer services and the guy said that he will give me a poster for my troubles! I've also managed to get my hands on a games day 2008 model from a friend which was stripped of paint. Do any of you remember the big bunch of guys which I got for any 2 for a pound? Well I when I was away I managed to get some more! As many of you know GW is changing their paints because of copy right porpoises, I’ve been paint mad! And have bought a large selection of paints, all of the paints apart from 3 were a pound each. And I've still got more to come! I should have another update later today with work on my truck conversion.
I also got some blades, thick and textured plasticard and a metal ruler. These were all from a model shown where the nice guys from warlord games gave me a firelock guy from the English civil war. He looks like he’s a parliament guy. If you don't know look up the 1st English civil war on Google. I also got a brush from their stand too.

LOL! Thanks man! I was kinda lucky but the shop has stopped selling and GW stuff so they were trying to get rid of it.
Hi guys,
Update. Basically what I want to do is to scratch build Caterpillar Tracks, which should look orky! Basically I'm using 1.5 mm thick plasticard which will be the basis for the track, this will then have 3 pronged pieces sticking out , with 2 one way and the other in the middle pointing out the other. I will then have a second smaller piece on top; this may have an additional textured piece of left plain. Spikes will be added for extra grip and orkyness! The pronged pieces will be the part holding the whole track as a whole together, with the same rod used for riveting going through the holes on the pointed out pieces. Hence making this a miniature caterpillar track that could work all by itself if it had a motor in it... So this is the basis of the design which sounds very complicated, but don't worry form my 2000 post I'm going to write an article on it to try and help explain it far better!
Anyhow, I will be having 3 different sizes for the main tracks which I was making "prototypes" for, so I knew what would work with what. The sizes which I have come up with are; Small, Medium and Large. I'm afraid that I can find the piece of paper which has the measurements on atm but I will give you them tomorrow. These all fit on each over, with Small on Medium, and Medium on Large this will make the tracks on the rear bigger, whilst the frontal tracks replacing the front wheels will be smaller. I need to cut out 20 small pieces, 60 Medium pieces and 40 Large. Then 360 small pronged bits, yup sounds like a lot! Thats why its been taking me so long, so far I've done about 23 Large bits today.
One I have done all of that, there will be more! With more armouring on the tracks and other stuff but I'll explain that later...
Until then I have a diagram which should help explain it (Btw I have got some work done today but has been cutting out lots of rectangles!) ,
if you have someone on the backburner for casting stuff...cast those... i made around more than 300 for two tanks...and it is really sinane work...we are not talking rivet zen here... for this you have to make so many cuts... that might destroy you... and i know what i am talking about...
to really understand what you want to do i think we need some examples of your tracks... then it will become more clear...
good luck mate!
oh...and just as a side note... the sig size can be altered too... so if you change the size of those letters you can still show the banner...

Thanks Vik really helps! I was thinking of casting them in White Metal at school, but dident have time. Unforchanly I don't have any resin either so I geuss I'm going to have to go insane once I finish this project.
you can cast in white metal in school...how cool is that??? well...i say make so many as you see fit and sort out following problems afterwards... one might never know where a casting buddy might come from...

Thanks man! I hope that you will love the end result.
Update- I cut out most of the pieces on Sunday and was a away on Monday. I've being doing my school project yesterday and will be doing that for the rest of the week to finish it off. The sizes for the tracks are;
Small-5mm by 1.5cm
Meudium-6mm by 1.8cm
Large-8mm by 2cm
These have all been designed so Small can go into Medium and Medium can go on top of Large. I'm also going to cut out some thin textured and none textured pieces of the same size to make the tracks more random and orkey!
Right, cause fancy is what the league is known for......

Ok,
Hi guys, sorry for the lack of updates recently! I've been losing a bit of interest in dakka in past fortnight of so, but I do have a modelling/ kinda painting update! Sicuris! In Failcast sorry Finecast, which I assembled and undercoated yesterday and will be painting tomorrow! Btw I'll will be leaving the tracks and whole battlewagon on hold whist I get ready for GD, which will mean me painting many test pieces to help 'perfect techniques like NMM, shading, skin tones, smerf armour ect. I'm quite pleases with how thin the undercoat is meaning its less clogged up than usual, anyway until then...
Btw- the first pic is a little grainy because I started spraying then remembered pics!
HAZZER...

Your focus in your pics is on the background, making the mini in the foreground fuzzy and out-of focus. Try zooming in if you don't have a digital macro feature.

Thanks man! Hope to get basecoat done and hopefully a wash, perhaps even 'black lining' into the recesses (putting black into recesses) and some hilighting, but am also painting a Blood Raven for my school club. Shame its kept at school!;'(
Hey, hazz, good to see ya updating. I, too, know the rigors of a busy schedule.....
I think, however, that you had it right the first time. Failcast, that's rich.....
