Cloning has always been risky business, with literally millions of variables and variations, a single mistake resulting in mutations and deformity. The dream of immortality through genetics was beyond grasp, or so we thought. Twenty years ago, Coalition scientists at the Maximus Installations successfully cloned in secret over two thousand human embryos using Senator Gorm Vadisky as a template, unbeknownst to him. It is unknown how the scientists created the clones as perfectly as they did, but my sources suggest Precursor artifacts were involved. The clones grew to full maturity within weeks, and learned at an accelerated rate, trained to be assassins to ensure the Coalition would no longer have to rely on the Parliament of Assassins for its execution needs. No, I can't prove it, but I've got a gut feeling, so shut up and let me finish. Anyway, after a few months, the clones were acting... strange. They gathered together exclusively with other clones, ignoring the commands of their creators. Two weeks later, every one on Maximus B was dead, the life support system had been sabotaged, and the station was opened up to the void. Not a single clone body was found, so where did they go?
