Thanks very much folks.
@Paradigm- you're right about the Ravenwing pauldron. Hadn't thought about the 'slaughter helmet - guess that's another one! there's 1 or 2 more. one of them is more my own fluff and relates to my squad Anarkus CC squad....and the 3rd.......

@Zambro - cheers fella. Yeah the cobbles were nevr gonna match up as I decided to do the scene thing after I'd already finished and based 4 of the squad. Managed to get the rubble to line up I think but the cobbles no without them looking off in odd directions lol

@TP - thx man. Loving thoses DAs - armour is deliciously dark. Agree on the dayglo green DAs usually end up....along with the red guns they end up looking like Santa's little helpers Good job

Here are some of the "original" wave of Cadian 713th, U.S. Marines IN SPAAAACE
Spoiler:

I don't really expect to win many votes for best painted, but I did put a darn lot of effort into conversion work, so I hope you guys appreciate how I sanded down those helmets and such. Also, the fishing line I wanted to use as webbing painted well, but refused stubbornly to be glued, so I ended up hand-painting webbing on one helmet, to much less success than desired. Oh well.

Wow thought I wasn't going to make the deadline on this one! Had to do a quick bit of sculpting to help cover and strengthen the standards joint and after coming back from work the green stuff still wasnt hard. Thankfully it did cure in time and I finished off the weathering and took some shots.

Here is the proof pic, I've moved it into the correct folder on photobucket so last link will now be broken.

And here it is in it's finished form!

@kommissarkiln: you're images aren't showing up! If its no trouble, could you rehost them on Dakka so I can be sure to get them?

@TazN: bloody hell, that came out of nowhere! Fan-flipping-tastic stuff!

Those red guns . . . . . . Not in my army!

I'm not sure if US Marines will ever make it to SPAAAACE, but if they do I hope they look like these guys - fabulous job. Are you going to do an entire army with those helmets? Your sanity would be tested!

Lovely figure and banner work, this is how I would want my sacred standard bearer to look for the Dark Angels.

Everybody's entries are looking great! Voting is going to be tough.

I yield on this one. After spending most of the month down with a nasty cold I'm not going to make the deadline. My arms are feeling kinda shaky after my workout earlier today, and I don't want to rush anyway. So my dead space marines will have to wait for paint another day. Maybe I can spin them into the next contest as veterans...hmmm

I do not work for GW in any fashion. When I edit my post, either I've misspelled something, punctuation, or I'm fixing swearing. Oops.

Here's how far I got, feel free to count it as a no-entry, I just wanted to explain what I was doing.
It was a strange idea that I couldn't quite pull out of my brain decisively enough to finish.

Don't know if this is late (don't know what time it is GMT), but here it is. Freehand didn't really show up very well in the pictures, but you get the idea. Enjoy!.

EDIT: Well, crap. It's late. Sorry, hope you guys enjoy it anyways. It's like 8:00 pm here.

I have missed the deadline, but am also not finished anyway :/

It was good motivation, and I will hopefully be able to finish over the weekend.

I am also WOEFULLY outmatched by some of the work here, so I am not stressed about not finishing - it saves my self esteem!

Anyway, thanks for the initiative Paradigm, I look forward to trying to make the next one!

I like the bike, the track rear works quite nicely for a techmarine.
