I have actively been avoiding reading anything about Necromunda. I don't need to spend money on another big box that will sit in a closet. And since Necromunda is basically everything I like about the setting, i knew I was vulnerable. When I first saw the image of the contents I thought: "Nah, I'm safe, they've gone and reduced it to a dungeon crawler/space hulky thing. I can easily resist. I can read up on the game." After spending the night reading through this thread I find myself thinking "The GF really enjoyed Assasinorum: Execution Force, with the right pitch I can maybe get her to givs Necromunda a try." Here I thought I was finished with GW in general and 40k related things in particular but [watch clip above].

Having dropped out from GW for years, I got "pulled back in" as you say last year with Blood Bowl and went all in there. Now I'm wondering if I'll do the same here. Been starved for these miniatures for so long up until the point now when I could hoard everything.

I never left, but I’m greatly enjoying this renaissance we’re in.

Much as I love 40k and AoS, I’m exceptionally time poor. So anything which lets me get my gaming fix in half the time is always gonna be welcome.

I’m also in a position to do one of the Necromunda boards I’ve alwas wanted to since 1995!

Years ago, I said that all GW had to do to get me back as a customer was release a new Necromunda or Mordheim, providing that they not suck.

So far, the background that they have released does not suck.

Yeah, this is quite likely the thing that will bring me back in - though I am still pretty much done with WH40K, and would need to be paid a lot of money to play Age of Sigmar.

Mad Donna and Kal Jerico called out in that video. I can see this set of rules being morphed into a bunch of other similar scale games albeit with a tight focus.

Based on the latest WD I have two predictions, one of which may barely count so I will start there first. Looks to me like the Cawdor will be combined with the Redemptionists so completely there will not be a new separate Redemptionists gang ever. Second, there is very little description of the Van Saar outfits and none for the Orlocks - so I’d anticipate some much needed updates, and thus notably different looks for both gangs. Consider we already have the Goliaths and Escher, while the descriptions of the visual appearances of the Cawdor and Delaque in the latest WD are pretty detailed. Too bad for the Delaque cause those guys looked like they were waiting around in white vans to offer juves some candy. Just my thoughts.

I spoke with the manager of the local GW store and he mentioned that they will have some store exclusive preorder swag. I wonder what that might be?
The manager seemed like a good guy so I might just forgo getting a discount at Miniature Market to pick it up from the store.

The swag will probably only be gotten depending on how many copies of the game the store pre-orders.

It'll probably be art cards, dice, pins / buttons and the like.

With it being a local GW shop, it'll probably be he has a set number of them to give away to anyone preordering.

Guessing it will be variant cards like they did with Shadespire.

Shadow War had a seperate stand alone rule book they were trying to sell where as you need the base game for Necromunda as it’s the only way to get the rules so I expect them to have produced a significantly increased number of copies. I am still not certain if they have enough, this game could pottentially bring back players who haven’t touched GW in years (including myself whose last GW purchase would have been Warhammer Quest or Necromunda related in the late 90s).

I wish they would open preorder bonuses to the webstore more as due to my working hours I could never secure any from my local GW store. I know they did include a single bonus card if you brought the Warhammer Quest Silver Tower bundle but you still received more items in store.

Yup I am one of those gamers I have been waiting for this for a long time. I hope you are right and that they have taken onboard the events of the SWA release and have really jacked up production ready for this. I can't help but think demand is going to be very high.

Shadow War was also intended to be a limited run item, not a full-fledged game in and of itself.

That said I don't think it will be a big issue since the box will likely be "limited to 1 per order" while the Goliath and Escher sets won't be.

Have you considered maybe calling the shop and having them place the preorder for you then coming in to pay for it when you're off of work?

In the past, I’ve arranged to leave cash to pay for the transaction.

Of course, that all depends on a certain level of mutual trust with your local games store (GW or otherwise). But, worth at least considering.

So, the rules will only be available in the starter set, and the campaign book does not have the rules in?
How do the other half of the box-set players get the rules, once the gangs are split between them?

I am going to have a chat with my LGS manager and let him know I am intending to spend a sickening amount of money on the 11th. Its only a small store and I have dropped a lot of cash on them in the last 6 months so hopefully that should increase my chances

Pretty sure the core rule are simple enough to remember after a few game and the guy who keep the rulebook an act as a guide or let the other guy read the book while playing. There're a reference sheet you can download for free from the website. Doesn't seem too complicated.

Thing like skill, territory, scenario,... are probably in the gang war book.

The reference sheet should work as a rulebook after a couple of games, I suppose.

They confirmed via Facebook that the gang tactics cards are additional cards to those in the box. Bit meh about this as basically you need the box, gang war, gang cards.... for a skirmish game.

So far i'm ok with everything we've seen here outside of the cards. I appreciate that they expect people might buy several of a given gang box, but only need one set of cards (thus not bundling them together), but at first blush it does come across a bit nickel and dimey.

Sounds like the expectation is that if you want the rules from GW, you're buying a minimum of two factions.

I'm somewhat interested in this game, but have no interest at all in buying multiple factions via a starter set. I'm waiting to see what my other options are.

No. U.K. retailers have confirmed there is no stock cap and can order as many sets as required. GW obviously realise the mistakes they've made and seem to be rectifying it for this release
