I have a friend that is trying to piece together a rhino and/or drop pod from plasticard, so, is there a good site with building plans? Or do any of you have something? (bonus points if there are Necron Monolith plans)

+1 for Eli Patoroch. I've used his templates to build 2 repressors, 2 thunderbolts, a marauder & marauder destroyer plus used his mkii land raider templates to convert plastic raiders to mkii.

It's very easy! You just cut out your (plasti)card into the shapes you need then stick them together! You can use different width cards for detailing, and stack up sheets of different widths for futher details.

Rather than doing a straight copy of someone elses templates, I suggest your friend draws up his own or comes up with some modifications to really personalise his rhino (the time it makes to scratch build a vehicle is quite intensive; if you want something that looks exactly like the stock model you are better just getting some hours at a bar/doing paper rounds/etc and simply buying it).

Before I was aware of the new forge world Rhinos (possibly before they were released) I decided I wanted to make something that looks like a Rogue Trader era rhino, but to the scale of the modern ones. Fortunately I had lots of time on my hands and my motivation was to have a modelling project to work on, rather than the end product.

Fortunately I had one of each version to hand and used these to come up with my own designs. I used several different widths of card, as well as a few other pieces of household materials to detail the vehicle.

It has nothing on even the RT era rhino, but I'm quite pleased of it as it is only the second vehicle I scratch built in this way (well, except time I stuck tank tracks on an old tissue box when I was a lil kid; gorkamunda had just come out and it was the style at the time).

From a hobby perspective though, I'd recommend scratch building the tanks. It's great to be able to add custom touches, or just see what you are capable of (and then to try better it!).

Here is my second attempted scratch build vehicle, using my own templates, I previously mentioned:
Spoiler:

A fairly basic paint job as I realise the model isn't really good enough to justify many hours of painting.

If your friend goes through with this I'd love to see his results!
