by which I mean taking a list that uses the rules to "Cheat" up the turn count for Power From Pain?

"Cheat" in this case means stacking the Architect of Agony, Agonising , and the Father of Pain special rules to have the PFP turn count be higher than the actual turn count. so that turn one counts as turn 3

Cheat? Is there anything that makes the rule unclear? If not, the rule probably exists to be used. Most cheese-builds are not about using a single rule, they are about combining as many rules as possible to get a very good package.

This silence offends Slaanesh! Things will get loud now!

...Why...would it be...? If you told us what the cheat was we might have a better idea.

If you're using the rules, how are you cheating?

Not sure quite what this thread is about yet.
If you're talking about spamming any given rule across an army then not so much cheese as boring to play against/with, one dimensional and a bit of a one trick pony/eggs in one basket that will either work well or not at all.

Nope, not cheesy.
Stacking abilities is fine by my book.

Edit: Although parts of my earlier comment still stand true in this instance.

I was toying around with building a Dark Eldar assault based army around stacking PFP increasers so that by turn three every one of the assault models has access to the benefits of furious charge, rage, feel no pain, and fearless.

...........

I'm pretty sure that's the point of PFP increasers.

I say go ahead and cheat, even if it means following the rules. Force night fighting too, and forge a narrative by shutting off the lights the first turn...

Maybe the new buffs for PFP just FEEL like cheating.

Wait...there's someone who thinks dark eldar are cheesy when they aren't just being used for their vehicles and webway portals by their superior light cousins?

Surely the point of having models in the army that do what you're describing is to do what you're describing? It's not cheating, it's not cheesy, its just using the rules available to your army...

In retrospect this was a silly thread. However, I'm quite new and don't want build a reputation as tfg due to the lack of 40k players around me.

Using rules synergy to win, is kinda what 40k is about. Why would these rules exist, if not to do exactly what you describe? If someone giving you gak for an "OP" DE list or something?

As long as you aren't spamming units, running Adamantium Lance in friendly games (It's neat the first time or two, but nobody wants to consistently play against a 3 model army with superfluous scoring units), or specifically going out of your way to ensure your army is no fun to play against, you'll be fine for most casual games.

You're not "cheating", and trust me, if you run without doing this, you're going to get smashed to pieces. This is a key element in a DE army. It's one of the few tricks you have, so use it. It's not going to be as easy as you expect, either, as anyone that's played DE before are going to know what they need to do to stop this.

It's not even cheezy. I played a dark eldar game against coven, and it was very strong (he curb stomed my orks good). But against some of the competitive builds, it wouldn't have been that strong.

If he had bumped PFP it would have been even stronger, perhaps competitive. Just because DE has a competitive build does not make them cheezy. Against fluffy lists, you don't have to take it.
