Hi guys, pretty much what it says on the tin really. I'm considering starting an Elysian army using the D99 army list from IA: Anphelion project. Has anyone used this in the past and if so could you tell me a bit more about the list and what makes it different from standard guard and Elysians, what units are good to start with etc. Cheers guys.

2000pts IG. ( based on fallout US Army)

3000pts XIIth Legiones Astartes 8th Assault Company. (Pre heresy)

never in the field of human conflict, has so much been fired at so many, by so few.

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions. Loyal servant to the true emperor Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.

The big difference is in the statlines; a D99 Veteran is slightly more expensive than a regular Elysian Veteran, but he's got WS4, I4, Preferred Enemy (Tyranids), and Stubborn. D99 doesn't have the normal Guard platoon structure or Veteran squads, they've got their own Veteran squads sized 5-13 (don't ask why 13, nobody knows), three different kinds of Special Weapon squads in Elites (one of which comes with improbably inexpensive flamers), and their command squads don't have Orders. Their Vehicles are also BS4.

D99 isn't as versatile as the regular Elysian list or the Guard list, but it comes with inexpensive and reliable units. If you want to start playing them you're not going to need a lot of models but you are going to need a lot of special weapons. Make sure you've got enough aircraft (Valkyries are Dedicated Transports and come in by Deep Strike on turn one, same as Elysians) and pick out the big threats to hit hard as fast as you can. Playing D99 is a lot like playing Drop Pod Space Marines, only cooler.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.
