I am using two of these in a Blood Angels army and the following options intrigue me most.

TL Heavy Bolter:
Mainly because it's cheap and I can use the spare points to upgrade other things

Las/Plas:
This is a pretty popular option and I can see why. It's good if you get a weapon destroyed result and you can put out a S9, AP2 shot and 2 S7, AP2 shots (they get hot though).

TL Assault Cannon:
It has the most firepower of all of the options. I think it's overpriced, but you're gaining an extra shot, +1 strength and rending from the heavy bolters. It's amazing against infantry and can take on vehicles as well.

The assault cannon suffers by its limited range, and as you said it's very expensive. If you're within 24 inches, you're a lot closer to things that can kill you.

Bolter being cheapest is a great reason to take it. Razorbacks are pretty flimsy, so it's your safest choice. Plus it's less likely to be focused on.

Las is good for las dev squads. You can use it to shield them from a side, and it adds an extra shot to the squad.

I like TL HB or AC on my BA razorbacks.

If your running a BA list make them fast and give them Las/Plas, 12" move and fire both weapons. Only really worth the points in a armour heavy list, needs podding dreads and Predators/vindicators so they don't get taken down too early.

I'd take them as-is unless you've got a plan for them, the points can be better spent elsewhere. Agree that synergy between the Razorback and the unit it carries (ie Lascannon Devs) can be an important consideration.

Not a terrible use of a FA slot for the points. I am a big fan of the LasPlas, in spite of not owning one. They really need to come out with an add-on sprue for the Razorback so you can get the turrets it is missing.

Razorbacks are only worth it if you:

1) move and shoot with them

2) put a tl-Lascannon on top

Why? Simple:

The tl-HB is overcosted as hell - youre paying 20 points over a Rhino to lose transport capacity from 10 to 6, to lose the repair special rule, and to lose the stormbolter on top of everything else.

So your firepower goes from 2 S4 AP5 shots and a plasma gun shot from your squad to 3 S5 AP4 TL shots

At least with the TL-Las you got some At firepower on the move and it pairs well with a squad of melta marines
