been thinking of reviving my old IG models, and getting back into the game. what im wondering, and obviously without pts or specific rules im wondering:
can the Astra Militarum codex be used to make a "legit" all tank list? IE: hq, troops, elites, etc?
does the above require "unbound"?
are baneblades and variants now "standard" options in normal games?
thanks

You need the Armoured Company list from Imperial Armour vol. 1 2nd edition to run all tanks, with just the AM book you're Unbound. Baneblades are a Lord of War, you can run one per combined arms detachment (traditional FOC).

As Anomanderake says with the armored battalion list from FW you can. Obsec troop vanquishers are hilarious. I also believe they have the list for free on their website? (unsure)
As for the AM codex, you certainly can field almost all armor. With the 2 HQ tank commanders in squadrons, for troops armored fist vets aka vets in chimeras would be your troops, then fill out your heavy slot with what you need, and heck I even like the fast attack choices too!

They don't have it for free, but there are alternative methods.
I have a digital copy.

course you could run a mostly tank list and use a pair of vetern squads in Chimeras as your token troops.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two |

They do updates for free; when/if 8e lands they'll have temporary 8e patches for all their lists on their website, but they'll be overwritten by IA books.

yea i have no interest in purchasing any kind of foot troop, at all for any reason. its bad enough i need to buy a bunch of tanks at 70$ a pop. plus painting all those infantry... just not interested. would much rather do a much more styilized and characterful tank army. fewer models, less money and more important, less to paint!

Then go unbound? You only need 20 foot troops (In chimeras) to be fully bound. Also, ebay is your friend lol

as last poster said - ebay!
it'll be worth having those troops to camp on objectives - 7th edition means a troop choice with 'objective secured' cant allow an objective to be contested unless by another unit with the same rule.
also, the DT of a unit with the rule ALSO has the rule! so if one objective is hidden away, you can dump the troops there and move the chimera on to and hold another, more exposed objective and seize that too!
