Yeah , so I am kind of curious as it is not very specific but if you have two Canoptek Harvests list can the Spyders give cross bonuses ?

IE Squad A Canoptek Harvest , Squad B Canoptek Harvest, can Squad Bs give the bonus to squad A.

If you had

1 Squad A Canoptek Harvest Formation
1 Squad B Canoptek Harvest Formation
1 Squad C Canoptek Harvest formation

If 2 Squads A and B lost their Spyders can Squad C give the bonus to Squad A and Bs units?

Adaptive Subroutines: At the start of each of the controlling player’s Movement phases, choose one of the following special rules: Fleet, Reanimation Protocols, Shred. The Canoptek Spyder from this Formation, and all units from this Formation within 12" of the Canoptek Spyder from this Formation, benefit from the effects of the chosen special rule until the start of the controlling player’s next Movement phase.

It's actually not specific at all.

It looks very specific to me with the repetition of "from this formation"

It's actually not specific at all.

Very specific. If Wraith from A is 12" away from Spider from B but 18" away from Spider A then Wraith A is not within 12" of Spider A and does not benefit because Spider B is not in This Formation with Wraith A. That's Wraith B.

Because the word THIS is specifying THIS Formation... not A Formation.

Because it never is. I can not thing of a single instance where anything is 'all units with a similar name on the table' other than Unique units can not be duplicated even in multiple detachments. If specific permission isn't given, it doesn't have permission, so the burden is on you to try to prove that it IS talking about the Formation in general and all copies of it.

I haven't seen many rules written by GW with that degree of articulation. At the very least, it would be miraculous if they delegated rules script to an inter with a passing score in writing, lol.

Anyways, it is legion to the multitude of ambiguous rules in GW's warchest. IMO, "this" could imply both interpretations, without much of a stretch. I'd be cautious to take a side with any conviction.

Wow. Really? I'll grant some ambiguity some of the time. But this ones pretty clear. If it's not, then nothing is.
