Ok so I am building a gaming city for 40k, and I decided I wanted to have a train run through it. So this is what I imagination a train might look like. What do you think? Automatically Appended Next Post: nuclear power train move in light speed

Thats a lot of curved surfaces for imperial tech.
I enjoy the concept of a train set on the gaming table though.

SUPERTRAIN!
(it was a disaster movie featuring the world's first nuclear powered cross country (USA) train. It also wasn't good).
Too many curves for an imperial train, though. Those are more "brute force and ignorance" than smooth curves and aerodynamics.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

The fins give it a chaos look imo. Plus the angle of the bigger ones would make it take off rather than staying on the track!
Imperial stuff does normally have a boxy aesthetic, but then a train could be civilian tech and have more concern for aerodynamics, efficiency and hence profitability!?

I think it's a solid concept. The softer lines do read a bit more 'Eldar' to me, but if you want something to bring some life to a table, I think it's a neat piece. Maybe something on the edges that got thrown together so it's not as ornate as other vehicles. I do think that making it a tad bigger to bring it into scale with the minis would be nice, but if you're having to haul everything around I think you're good.
I don't think people can complain too much when someone's trying to bring a unique piece of set dressing to the table. I'd love to see what the end result of the set up would be.

I really like it. Could be the personal conveyance of the head of a wealthy Household. Transporting him through towering manufactoria, far above the wretched scum of the undercIty. But yeah, I don't like the wings either XD

It'd be perfect for RT, but it doesn't really fit the modern aesthetics.

It fits in with the rogue trader days rounded organic looking tech: I must admit that the imperium of man do tend to look at fins as something that needs to be forced on them.
They seem to like pipes and lots of intakes however which I think you nailed.
If it looks like it can inhale a flock of sheep you are on the right path.
If you put some old beakie marines next to the train it will fit-in a bit better.

I love it. While I agree that it doesn't fit the current Imperial aesthetic, it's a sweet build, on its own. Surprisingly (and pleasantly so) coherent, considering the melding of the simple, cylindrical steam engine and the complex, rounded, almost organic sci-fi elements.
Any plans for a track? As an anti-grav/mag-lev train (by all apearances), traditional rails and ties don't make sense, but some sort of track seems necessary to drive the point home. It's a train, after all, not a vaguely train-shaped hover-bus. How about additional compartments/rolling stock/weapons cars (WW2 German armored train style)?

Large city scape with hole buildings industrial district a capital building, center square and hive habs for the workers and family's, fuel depot and an aha for ammo. in front of the city is a fortress with trenches and long range weapons in placements then there is a wasteland of bombed out buildings.

Nice work! don't let the nay sayers ruin it for you. That is a neat concept I've not seen put into action before. Will it be moving constantly while you play a turn based game? Or will it move so far every turn?

I think it's very inkeeping with the necromunda/RT and steampunk aesthetic, I think the guys commenting negatively we're expecting something that you didn't intend to make, i.e. a grimdark chunk of plasteel and ceramite
