So, I was buying some metal bike torsos off of ebay for my marines, and instead I received 2 metal tank commanders in the mail. I've never seen these before, so I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about them? A bit curious since its the first time I've ever seen a marine that wasn't supposed to have pauldrons on.

Metal tank commander that came with the 2nd edition predator kit. Think it was with the annhilator version.

I thought they came in the 3rd ed Vindicator kit?

Possibly both/all?

Looking at old pics, seems to just be the Vindi.

Yeah, it was just the Vindicator. The metal pred turret didn't have a marine in it.

That thing would have started weighing heaps with all those metal plates stuck on.

Yup. I still have mine, bought the day it was released.

Heavy as all get out, and didn't fit together properly. Much swearing was had.

Although I did for some reason get an extra rear hatch in the box, which I think would up on one of my rhinos.

Woops, I had several of each kit and took a risk.

So Vindicators used to come with a clawed dozer blade and a gunner signalling a right turn...
Thanks everyone for the help.

The dozer blade was standard for all of the rhino variants through 2nd and 3rd edition.

They produced a whole line of tank crew between 1st and 3rd editions.

This was when 40K was still pretty much Sci-Fi and "the chaos" had not completely overwhelmed the game, turning it into a glorified Steampunk Napoleonics game with All kinds of Medieval and Georgian and Victorian Trappings.

Yeah, that Vindicator is a pain, I have 3 of the old type.
Important note: Do not leave in car on cold weather or hot: All plates fall off no matter what you do (unless you pinned).
Knew what that guy was as soon as I saw him: I made a point of not using him since it looked rather awful to me.

I have this guy. I figured he was some rhino version but didn't know which. Now I do, thanks!

Interestingly I have most or all of the metal bits for the old vindicator. I just haven't decided if I'm going to do any of my squat rhinos as a Vindicator yet.

Guess I better use epoxy to hold them in place eh?

I put some of the original "gorilla glue" not the super glue version, into the middle of the plates: they never come off now.
Super sticky stuff and it can stretch slightly.

Good To know. Did you have to clamp them as they dried? Whenever I've used the original Gorilla Glue it expanded madly.

I bought one of them just before Forge World built their resin one and used the metal parts on a new rhino. Sadly I did not get the back hatch.
