Makes you wonder how Comedy Central is going to compensate with their heavy hitters going away though. I mean besides Conan and South Park do they have that much left?
Comedy Central like SNL. It has good years/cast and bad years/cast. Figure two years down the road Comedy Central be up again.

Comedy Central doesn't really have anything worth watching anymore. Maybe they'll bring back Futurama now, but they really don't have anything going for them. I don't think that South Park can carry the entire channel.
Didn't agree with John Stewart's politics, but his show amused me none the less. Shame he's leaving.

Dunno how he lasted this long to be honest. He's not very funny and is often outshone by his "correspondents". Anytime he does get politically serious it just sounds like the usual liberal celebrity drivel. Good riddance.
I havent watched him in years.........
Well, you can sure bet im tuning in for the final episode.
This makes me sad, he really was one of the truly unbiased news reporters these days.
I disagree, He actually said what needed to be said and gave gak to both parties. The reason people my age get the news from him is that because he isnt part of the 24hr news cycle that lies and makes up stories to get attention
Damn, I've been watching pretty much every show for the last few years. Whilst not "unbiased" as such - definitely has liberal leanings, though he criticizes the democrats when needed too - he is far less biased than mainstream news and tends to present actual facts... and then lambaste people who ignore them. Thankfully Bill Maher is sticking around it seems, of the 3 I preferred him then Stewart then Colbert, but having Oliver doing his thing is good.

I mean... conservative likes to label anybody who don't agree with them as liberals... but JS called Bullcrap on FOX all the time when FOX is doing the craping.
I consider myself conservative... but FOX is just bullcrap. I want real news, not propaganda from the right.
I will never forget what FOX did and JW called them out.
1 - When FOX photoshop a conservative gathering. Showing old footage of successful rally with many people as current rally because the current rally was way below average turn out. This is pure propaganda. JW called them out and show the footage. Sean Hannity had to make an public apology and blame his staff for using the wrong footage by accident.
2 - The global warming ice cap melting. Many conservative use this theory to call BS on ice cap melting by this stupid example. When you have glass of water (fill to the rim) with ice in it... and the ice is sticking out of the rim... when those ice melt... the glass of water never over flow... so all those ice in the north pole and south pole is the same theory. The ice is part of the sea and will never over flow. LOL. in theory... that make a hell of a good point. This was many conservative strong argument and was used all over.
The JW debunk this and this argument was never ever used again. JW show the glass experiment ...then he go more ice cube and put them on the table not in the glass. He demonstrate that what about all these ice on lands!!!! they melt and he dump the ice from the table to the glass and of course, it over flowed.
I just can't believe some of the Conservative BS that they come up with to use as propaganda and many "tea party" members just love it and believe it. The simple minded is just so scary to have a strong party.
Well, I'm shocked and saddened by the news. I always preferred Stewart to Colbert (I've never really found Colbert too funny, he just tries to push sarcasm and irony to a point that it gets annoying), and found the show to be one of the few comedy talk shows on TV that was actually interesting. The only guy I liked better then Stewart was Oliver, and he's on premium channels now that I refuse to shell out for (feth you Comcast!).
Also, for people dissing Jon Stewart, I'd like to remind you that life has a liberal bias.

It's depressing news. I've been watching JS's run on the Daily Show for...crikey, half my life. For a lot of us abroad that can't afford to actually visit America and meet Americans at home, his show was pretty much the only indication to the outside world that you're not all lunatics who either worship Reagan and Rand or spend most of their time refusing to vaccinate their kids while in crystal healing wellness centres
I can't even think who could replace him; Oliver's unlikely to give up his new HBO gig, and none of the other "correspondents" really fit. Mind you, I'd never have thought they could have made a whole show out of the Colbert persona and that turned out to be mostly just as good as the Daily Show, so who knows.

Honestly Bill Maher I am not a huge fan of. He is intellectually dishonest and talks over people with appositive points of view even when they are using facts to back up what they are saying and he has none to back up his own. Even when I agree with Maher I think he's a cock.

Bill Maher is a complete berk, he's so far up his own arse he collapsed into a smugness singularity, and more importantly he's an idiot anti-vaxxer. Not even in the same league as Stewart, who was at least willing to have folks like Bill O'Reilly on for a bit of back & forth.

Stewart wasn't always consistently funny/entertaining but he certainly had his moments. Besides The Daily Show wasn't even his best work. I will always be grateful to him for being the catalyst in getting that awful steaming pile of gak show Crossfire pulled off the air.

Bill Maher is a douche bag. I always thought of him as the liberal version of Rush Linbaugh. They are different due to one being a comidian and other a radio talk show host but they are both similar in the fact that they are ideologues, loud, and obnoxious. They also both put their foots in their mouths a lot. Sometimes in both cases I think that the fact that they are so obnoxious is a big part of the appeal for a lot of people. Also in both cases I have seen more mainstream politicians or guys like David Axelrod had their feet held to fire by journalists on TV after either Maher or Linbaugh said something stupid.
That said about Stewart there is a interesting article on slate of all places link One point that article makes that I do agree with is that I never really bought is whole "I am just a comedian" routine because there are people who get their news from him and his former colleagues.
