Subject: Using Army Books/ Codices to represent other factions?

So I have a few GW books now and a ton of models. Is it okay to use one book to represent another faction? For example, I'd really like to rebuild my chaos marines but I don't particularly care for the CSM codex. Would you as a player be opposed to playing against a Chaos Marine army that used the space marine book? Obviously you are playing against a marine army, but I want to use chaos models, lol
would you play against this or not?

A dude in power armor carrying a bolt gun is a dude in power armor carrying a bolt gun. Doesn't matter if he is red, blue or wearing spikes.

As long as i knew exactly what i was playing against, go for it.
I am planning to get some of the new plastic dwarf models to flesh out my Chaos Dwarves. They'll follow Chaos Dwarf rules, but 1) they're cool 2) add some diversity, and 3) won't require a second mortgage like my FW stuff !

CSM were SM at one point.
So, just say they recently converted.
Leave off some of the more recent items, and you should be good.

I would have no problem with it. of course, your best bet is to ask the people you are actually going to be playing against This because when you go online, your going to find a huge wide variety of answers (I've seen people post here who would lynch you for it and others who would cheer you on) that may or may not be the same your normal players (the ones that actually count for you) will give you.

As long as everything is clear as to what it is representing I'd be fine with it. Sadly the Marine book does a better job capturing some of the Traitor Legions than the CSM book.
Having said that IA13 and the Daemons book helped us out a lot you could use them when we play to give your Chaos a shot in the arm.
