Afternoon fellow Dakka'nites, this may be a new guy question and might have been answered a billion times before but I can not seem to find any answers using the search function so I am turning to you guys to either help me with an answer or point me in the direction of where I may find an answer. I want to build a World War II themed Imperial Guard army using historically accurate vehicles and aircraft, and yes I know this is not tournament legal, this is a personal project that will only be used in games against my friends. I need to find articles, blogs or any information I can on what models to use for the vehicles, basically I need to find any and all information on this topic. I plan to use regular Imperial Guard troops but I want the vehicles to be accurate. Any and all information you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I need advice on vehicles such as tanks and what not, I want to have Sherman tanks. I want to build a historically accurate army to use in 40k.

For vehicles aim for 1:35 or 1:48 scale as the GW vehicles hover around that scale. Just be prepared that all real weapons look teeny tiny compared to GW's preference for macro-calibre guns.

Bolt Action 28mm from Warlord Games would be your best bet.

That's what I suggested. Look at the tanks & such, the more common vehicles are plastic kits. In fact armored fury would be a great place to start. The Sherman is tiny compared to the russ however. Even as squat as it is.

For Shermans, I would actually use 1/35 scale Shermans and use the correct weapon loadouts for the Russ. You might have to do a bit of scratch building for the turrets.
