How about if we use might and fate from lotr sbg in
40k? In lotr sbg their heroes may have some points of
Might and fate might ban be used to adjust any roll by one
And fate gives you a fnp like 4+ save but they only have a limitedd
Amount of fate and might eg a normal hero might have 2 points of
Might and 1 point of fate if he uses his point of fate to save
Himself then he has no more fate for the rest of the game

I honestly can't work out what you're saying from that jumbled mess of text.

What he is suggesting is that we implement the system of Might and Fate points from GW's LOTR game, where hero models have a number of Might and Fate that they can spend in various ways. Might is very versatile and can do things like rerolling failed attacks or modifying dice rolls, whereas Fate is purely defensive and is a method to avoid taking wounds (usually on a 4+, if it fails you can spend another to try again). Major named heroes usually have ~3 Might and Fate, whereas Captains and similar minor heroes usually have 1 Might and 0 Fate. It should be noted that there is no save mechanic in LOTR, armour and shields simply add to Defence (= Toughness)

From the sounds of that, I'm just picturing some of the characters that already have master-crafted getting rerolls (which is kind of scary), and the characters that can get 2+/3++ and a FNP, and then throwing on another save they can get.... terrifying

As said, Might and Fate is definitely not designed with the save-stacking of 40K in mind.

Fate points do have a limited stock (not more than three on most heroes) and they are only useable when you'd otherwise be removed from play. I'd say it could work but it'd be a bad idea when MC characters and things like Smashfucker are involved.

You'd have to compensate by reducing save/wounds/toughness on the characters you're giving Fate to, though, or give them a points increase.
Does Smashfether really need to be any tougher, though?
Seeing characters like Abaddon get some love via Might could be extremely cool, actually...

As a key cog in a complete overhaul I'd definitely be in favor. As a bolted on addition to the existing framework I don't think it would work well.

^Story of Proposed Rules. Folks suggest stuff that wouldn't work in a vacuum in a vacuum.
