The title - What two pre-End Times factions would you combine into one army (Using both amies as one, treating them as taken from a single armybook), for whatever reason, be it fluffy, crunchy or lulzy?

Personally, I'd make an Ogre Kingdoms/Empire army. The Empire part would be the main army, and compromise mostly of Handgunners, Halberders, some Cannons and maybe a Steam Tank, and would be from Nuln, while the Ogre Kingdoms would be some Bulls, Mournfangs, a Stonehorn and a Slaughtermaster at least. They would represent my mercenary Ogres, a tribe of Ogres lead by a Tyrant, who is himself guided by a Slaughtermaster calling himself the Prophet of the Maw. He thinks that he has realized the flaw in living like most Ogres do - All Ogres are hungry, and try to sate themselves by eating more and more. Through experience, he realised that Ogres won't ever be sated, so eating more and more is basically just making it worse: Instead, he believes that Ogres should eat a bit less, but much better cooked food, to at least get some sensation out of all that food.

Allying with a Tyrant, who sorta agrees with him, they travelled the world, trying to find new tastes that might be wort cooking, and end up outside Nuln. The diplomats at the city quickly realized that the Ogres where staying, so they made a deal: If the Ogres assist the military forces of the city when asked to, and they avoid eating humans, they can do whatever they want, hunt what they want and take whatever corpses they want after a battle. This is perfect for the tribe, who's only real goal is to keep finding better and more interesting food. This results in the Ogres being a bit better at speaking human languages than other Ogres, and having at least some manners, while also being great hunters and cooks in comparison to other tribes (apart from the Feastmaster tribe, who has Haflings as chefs...).

I play ogres, so I can say; that is a freaking awesome idea and backstory.

I think Orc and goblins/ogres would be a monster of an army to face for EoT.

Vampires and Empire

Its pretty fluffy - a number of communities across the known world and beyond were ruled by vampires and not just Sylvania..... Neferata and her sisterhood also had a number of places under their control.

After all a "blood tax", properly implemented and controlled and not to much to ask for a ordered and defended society especially when the alternatives are considered.

"I will admit that some Primachs like Russ or Horus could have a chance against an unarmed 12 year old novice but, a full Battle Sister??!! One to one? In close combat? Perhaps three Primarchs fighting together... but just one Primarch?" da001

I would love to combine Dwarfs and Ogres. I think the visual and aesthetic juxtaposition would be awesome, and too boot, the army wouldn't combine all that badly either.

I would have said ALL THE ELVES... but well, that's already a thing.

Empire + Brets + Dwarfs too would be neat.

I would like to see a Grand Alliance of some sort, that would allow a Legions of Chaos like combination of Human, Elven, and Dwarf army choices. Mostly because its a pretty cool notion, if a touch cliche.

I'm assuming the Warriors and Daemons of Chaos is out because it's the common thing that's sorta been done already and already combines fairly well.

So I'd go High Elves and Lizardmen. Their magics should work well together, and the following: High Elf lizard cav.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

High Elves and Dark Elves are already a thing, but at the same time I'm happy I can represent the story I wrote with the Nagarytheans teaming up with a Corsair captain when they realize there's a Chaos Lord going after the same treasure.

Beastmen and Warriors of Chaos, because they never should have been split in the first place. And because Beastmen haven't had a single army book as powerful as any of the WoC books, which makes me green with envy.

I mean Incredible Hulk levels of green.

Emperor's Eagles (undergoing Chapter reorganization)
Caledonian 95th (undergoing regimental reorganization)
Thousands Sons (undergoing Warband re--- wait, are any of my 40K armies playable?)

There is not this idea.

Lizardmen and dwarfs! Not for any tactical reason, but for the idea of the two pooling their technologies into some strange new mixture.

Those who have read the latest End Times book will now know that O&G and Ogres look most likely to merge, given the rules for Grimgor incarnate of beasts.

Skaven and Lizardmen, because I like both armies, and the idea of arch-enemies fighting together always makes good fluff as long as the backstory isn't too ridiculous (no idea how you'd justify that combination though).

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

Dark Elves and Skaven could be interesting from a narrative perspective.
Mainly for the reason that both would think they are the ones pulling the strings, when both sides would be scheming and using the alliance to their own ends.
Plus... imagine sending showers of crossbow bolts into combats involving ranks and ranks of slaves.

Don't you mean the next book? Thanquol does not have those rules.

They told me i was crazy, that i could not win with an army list like that. 2000 points later i found out that they were right

I suppose with Skaven you could use the justification that it's all part of the leader's long term diabolical plan. And the Lizardmen might work alongside them in order to fulfill some prophecy or other...

This is ignoring everything from the End Times, of course.
