Just thought I'd share a link for you guys to a new game on Kickstarter I just found out about: Shadowstar Corsairs. Some of you might be interested in what looks like a fun space game with some really good looking spaceship models, too.

It's a board game a lot like Firefly: The Game, but instead of just flying a lone ship across the 'verse doing jobs to get the most money, Shadowstar also sees players exploring and grabbing territory, with a fleet that can grow up to having three ships of four different varieties (that can also each be upgraded), three smaller shuttles, and troops/crew that can be deployed to hold territory.

Lots of options for conflict if players are interested, and several types of resources can be gathered across the expanse that can be converted into political gains, more contracts, and gear that can further load out the player's ships. The board is pretty big, and made from double-sided tiles for lots of variety, too.

Pretty sweet kickstarter, too, with a full downloadable rulebook, a half-hour in-depth gameplay video, and several good reviews by reputable game reviewers. Damn pretty, too.

They had me at "plastic spaceships". Unfortunately, money being what it is, I'm going to have to Mantic it up with a $1 pledge and get the spaceships in the PM.

Although I was pretty surprised that the $59 includes free shipping to the US and UK, and includes a big download of material at the end that I guess would be worth $40. I never realized that this is the same guy that has made a bunch of starship maps on places like RPG.now. I was surprised at the price considering what boardgames of this level go for nowadays.

I just realised one of the shiptypes in the game is the map we have been using for our Firefly rpg.

The only worry is that I think he has the goal set far too high, though he has hit 20% already.

Just though Dakka would be a good place to spread the word. It's gotta be a good game if my wife even likes it, lol.
