Hi guys,

For a while now I've been working on my ship designs and some of them are in the process of being cast. However, since I'd like this to be a more 'complete' kit, I need flight stands, and a lot of them. Been looking around here and there, but I seem to be only able to find hexagonal ones, and I would really like those 30mm round ones you see on the BFG models. However, I can't really buy them from GW, so does anybody know where I could get some standard ones that I could order in bulk?

I know litko sells clear bases plus flight stands. Their not fancy since they are just lazer cut clear acrylic sheet and rod.

Or, if you are ordering a lot (like 200 quid's worth or so) go to EM4's trade version, Dice and Games. You need to order in bulk, but the prices are a lot lower.

Corsec Engineering makes some nice flight stands, but they're not particularly cheap. They're the only ones I've seen that use sturdy metal rods (I've broken far too many plastic flight pegs over the years).

It's not exactly exclusivity, it's just that GW makes it themselves, so they have it shaped the way they like it. You probably won't be able to find an exact match anywhere, as nobody else would is probably willing to spend the money to make the molds for it. That's why most of the ones you can find are laser cut acrylic.

Why doesn't GW just sell the bases themselves? I understand they would overprice them like crazy.

But I just don't understand why I can't buy the flight bases (For both vehicles and Tau Drones) in bulk from GW.

They used to - I bought a bunch of small flight stands from GW a few years ago.

Not trying to advocate anything illegal, but you could try casting your own copies of the flight stands... I have no experience with this so I don't know how viable an option that would be.

I have considered casting, but if I were to go down that route I'd rather design my own base kit. But yeah, I'm looking for an easy (and legal) solution.
