So I have to downsize and I'm having trouble deciding on which army to get rid of. I have CSM and GKs. Both armies are massive, GKS can be pushed to about 15-20k. CSM I haven't tried calculating, but in sheer models its at least a few hundred models, easily twice the size of my GKs. Any input?

GK. CSM are much less popular these days due to a (somewhat deserved) reputation for being ineffective on the table.

A few terminators? I have 45 terminators lol. We'll 30 Paladins, 3 apothecaries, Mordark, 9 Ghost Knights, 2 Grandmasters/Brother Captains

Have you considered selling half of each?

The thought had occurred to me, but I be tempted to rebuild the halves that I sold. Ive found going into 1 army at a time helps keep me under control lol.

Lol fair enough. Why don't you sell half of each and start a new army to take your attention away? Lol

The idea is to not spend money, and I have tendency to build all the different popular builds for an army or just build into massive apocalypse armies lol

from what you have said though, not spending is impossible, cut your losses and start a new army!! Haha

Out of curiosity, what proportion of each army is painted, and to what standard?

About 95% of the GKS is painted to a decent table top and based. The CSM are mostly unpainted or need stripped. Several units have been painted to a good table top standard and based.

How much was you looking for, just out of interest? (CSM, btw, feels like it'd fetch more)

If the painting standard is good then the painted models will likely sell for more. The unpainted CSM's will give you stuff to work on too without having to buy new models, if you're into that. The popularity of GKs will help their resale value too, I would expect. My advice for what it's worth would be to sell the Grey Knights.

Now, if you've put a lot of sweat and tears into the paint job on your GKs and you can't bring yourself to sell them when you've got unpainted CSMs lying around, that's pretty reasonable. I've had that problem. But from a purely monetary perspective the GKs are probably the better ones to sell.

There are some pics in my gallery. I'm out of town til tomorrow night but I can takes pics then. I'd probably do 50-60% of retail.

I was thinking the same thing. Since so many CSM models need work, I could sell the GKs and still have models to work on. Table top performance isn't a big thing to me since I play casually with friends every once in a great while.

It;'d also help to know your army break down. if your grey Knights are mostly Inqusition troops, with psy-canon equipped strike squads demand for them'll be less if it's a termy heavy force. just for example.

Unfortunately, my gk army was built for 5th/6th So I'd on have many non paladin termies, though they could still be used as regular termies since I only used the paladin heads. I have 60 strikes, 6 5 man purifier squads, 20 interceptors, 3 dreads, 3 ven dreads, 8 rhinos, 4 land raider crusaders (2 with FW doors), 3 dread knights flamer/sword, plus the terminators mentioned earlier, 2 storm ravens, 2 termie librarians, 2 tech marines, 4 servitors (2 reg, 1 multi melta, 1 plasma cannon), draigo, crowe, vindicare, 30 Wyches kitbashed as DCA. I think that's it.

I would piece meal which ever army you seel. People are much more likely to buy 1 vehicle or unit at a time, and you can make more money that way, be it eBay or on the Swap Shop.

As to which army, GKs are probably more popular, so that's who I'd try to sell first.

Just put ads out for both with "make offers" and see which one gathers more attention methinks.

I was thinking that piecing it out would be the way to maximize the amount of money I'd get out of it. Though if I got a good enough offer on the whole army I'd great rid of it all at once just because it would make things a lot easier.

Here is a pic of the painted GKs(unpainted stuff was at home) from last summer for a local painting competition. Don't mind the yellow guy in the front.

So from the responses, I'm probably going to get rid of the GKs. Its a shame, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
