I think a third person game that plays in a similar style to Space Marine would be pretty good. I think it would be awesome if you could choose your campaign based on GW campaign books.
- Damnos (Ultramarines vs Necrons)
- Damocles (Raven Guard vs Tau)
- Valedor (Eldar vs Tyranids)
- Armageddon (Blood Angels vs Orks)
- Eye of Terror (Black Legion vs Cadian Shock Troops)

And maybe do a pre-order Dark Eldar campaign for Valedor or a Space Wolves campaign for Eye of Terror.

Besides the obligatory DoW 3, I'd be cool to see an open-world 40k RPG game where you could be an inquisitor going from planet to planet trying to uncover some Chaos plot/artefact and having to deal with rival inquisitors and other types of intrigue along the way.

Shooter-wise, it'd be pretty fun to have a battlefront-esque third person shooter with multiple factions. I'd love to play me some Flash Gitz or Tempestus Scions!

Either a C&C style RTS or somehow fuse that with Total War.

Warhammer 40k: Only War (almost said total war!)

Entire maps could be Hive cities of the outskirts of them, planets would of course chage the terrain and such you would have to deal with, huge buildings would provide cover to your troops, not to metion seeing hordes of troops and tanks charge at each other. It would be at a scale that Titans would be usable but you could still zoom way in and watch Space Marines and Orks beat each other to death or watch Guardsmen line in ranks to fire into the foe, or see Baneblades grind their way through tyranids guns blazing or see an Eldar Titan dancing its way across the battlefield.

It would be epic.

Last I heard the Total War guys or someone got their hands on the Warhammer Fantasy and are planning to or are making a Warhammer Fantasy: Total War.... But I have no checked into it nor heard anything as of late.

But I stll think a Warhammer 40k: Only War would be an epic game.

That and im waiting on Eternal Crusade. Wish they would put Iron Hands in but Ill settle with Dark Angels and go into battle with my clanmates in CML leading the charge for the Emperor. Hope they put in Guardsmen! I want to steam a Baneblade or at least a Leman Russ headlong into the Green skin horde or crush the Chaos heretics.

I think a 1st Person Shooter is a good idea, so long as each race would be properly represented for upgrades throughout.

I'd want something in the vein of the AVP games. Ideally the second one. Ideally with you being a guardsmen / stormtrooper who's either involved in putting down a genestealer cult or taking part in breaching and clearing a Space Hulk in an attempt to get some old tech / an STC.

Alternatively, an AVP style game where.. you get to be the Tyranid. Tyranid fluff mentions that it's not uncommon for ships evacuating a world to leave with the odd Lictor / Genestealer on board.. Being a Lictor on board some semi-military vessel would be absolutely awesome.

MMOTPS or MMORPG.

Not a fan of single-player games at all, personally. I was liking the little I'd seen of Dark Millennium Online until it got the axe. I do have high hopes for Eternal Crusade though. It seems like Planetside 2, which I really enjoy, only I think it's got a bit of variety in how to capture bases, instead of Planetside 2's universal "Take and hold all Capture Points until time runs down" that applies to every single base in the game. So far it seems really fun. I'm a bit squeamish though, so the execution moves aren't gonna be fun for me (particularly on my Eldar and Sister of Battle characters (I have faith that the game will last long enough and expand far enough to include Sororitas eventually)) because for me, that kind of stuff is always worse to see when it's a woman on the receiving end. And since I strongly prefer to play female characters in any video game that allows the choice... Well, let's just say that I hope they include an option to tone down the gore, if for no other reason than CPU/GPU performance issues.

I know, I know, Warhammer 40k is an incredibly brutal and uncaring and awful universe to live in, so why do I like the game so much if I don't like that kind of stuff? It's simple. I was introduced to the game first, the lore came later. I don't like that piece of lore about that famous Battle Sister getting "torn apart" by the hands of an angry mob. It makes me queasy to think about it. In World of Warcraft, after I found out the background behind the Path of Glory in Hellfire Peninsula, I felt physically ill every time I saw it in-game. When I found out what the Orcs did to the Draenei Priestesses when the Horde sacked Shattrath, I was mad enough that I went into every dungeon that featured Orcs that I could think of and I killed every last Orc inside - I was that angry. When I found out about Theresa and what the Royal Apothecary Society did to her in World of Warcraft, I wanted to do the same thing to the Forsaken, just kill them all, no prisoners, but unfortunately that would've meant attacking an enemy player faction's capital city because there aren't any dungeon with Forsaken enemies in them, and attacking an enemy capital is downright impossible by myself because the guards hit WAY too frickin hard, to say nothing of the enemy players that might defend their city. So I had to settle for raging on the forums for a couple of hours and pissing off a friend who sees that kind of stuff as unacceptable but believes that most Forsaken would abhor such monstrous acts.

Point is, fiction affects me, probably way more than it should. Reading about it is bad enough. And even though they were just Orks, in Space Marine, from the footage I've watched of its campaign, it's either at my upper limit for gruesome violence or just a smidgen above it, as I was starting to get nauseated after watching it for about 20 minutes.

I got a bit off-point. I stuck with 40k because I was heavily into it, and really it's a fun game for me to play. The tabletop game by itself doesn't really go into the more awful stuff that goes on in the background, it just seems like toy armies fighting each other, and so I tend to invent my own fanfiction for it, which is rather heretical but it helps me to imagine that my Space Marines, my Sisters of Battle and my Imperial Guard are good guys who want to help their world survive in a galaxy of chaotic violence. It helps me to imagine that my Commissars simply relieve malfunctioning leaders of duty and send the panicking ones off the battlefield or to hide in a hole somewhere until the fighting's done, rather than killing them. It helps me to imagine that Orks can be happy with a highly-detailed virtual world where combat is unending, and not just against NPCs but against other players. They don't die in their physical bodies if they get killed in the simulation, but they feel every bullet, every blade, every blast like it was real (though some less hardcore players would choose to turn it down a bit if they're just there for a spot of fun).

Personally, I believe that virtual reality won't be like Star Trek's holodecks, because those still require physical fitness and aptitude to perform well in. As a 235-240 lbs fat neckbeard who sits in a chair or lies in a bed for around 23 hours of the day most days, I'd probably have a heart attack trying to play Planetside 2 or Eternal Crusade in a Star Trek holodeck. One thing I could go for is a neural interface, so that the game responds to my mind rather than my hands, but I've talked to some people about that and there are concerns about the dangers of letting machines probe our minds, and one woman would reject any technology that had a direct hookup to a person's brain, because they don't want to even risk their brain getting messed up even more. Only way she could go for a neural interface is if there were no wires, no pads attached to the body, and the connection was one-way only, with the game responding to the mind's thoughts without doing anything to the mind in return. So there'd be no confusion as to what the real world was. So I dunno. We'll probably invent different controls, but virtual reality will probably remain confined to stuff like the Oculus Rift for the foreseeable future.

Edit: Actually, I like seeing my character in games. So I changed it to MMOTPS instead of MMOFPS.

This is what i want more than anything lol. If bioware could make a giant mass effect style game with tons of dialogue and choices that would be soooo amazing. You would play as an inquisitor and then you can built up all your acolytes, and then based on your choices you go more towards certain ordo's, or range from Puritan from radical. I would pre order the crap out of that!

Obvious stuff would be a digital version of the tabletop game on the iPad (it would be a gold mine, using the free to play model) or another DoW/RTS.

Other things I'd like to see would be a Dark Heresy style RPG; where you play a group of operatives working for an Inquisitor as they investigate a potential threat against the Imperium. For those familiar, think Shadowrun Returns. Would provide a good opportunity to further expand and/or make use of the fluff about the Imperium. Or alternatively, what about a campaign set from a Tau perspective, taking place on a freshly annexed Imperial world? It would provide a fantastic opportunity to take a closer look at the Tau, and provide lots of interesting classes and characters.

But since we're talking about wishful thinking, what I'd really love to see is Blood Bowl 40k. Need I say more?

Tactical RPG. Something nonlinear that pays attention to the narrative as more than an afterthought, hopefully, instead of the same tired old "gak goes wrong and then the Space Marines show up to solve everything" with an optional "Eldar are fething with the Imperium instead of the actual bad guys because they don't trust the monkeys not to clog it up" plot twist.

To flesh out this idea of my Mass Effect-esque Inquisitor game, this is how I think it would work:

You make your character initially as some kind of basic acolyte, the "core" class being focusing on combat, technology, psychic powers or social skills. But they are not exclusive ones, so little locking between classes.

The game opens with you becoming an Inquisitor. Tutorial level of you as an acolyte with the former Inquisitor master. He dies and you inherit the mantle.

Advanced progression and pathing comes as you join an Ordo, which are more along the lines of a set of specialized skills rather than story progression. They would be your character's specialist skills, and possibly also influence how they interact in various scenarios for social/npc interaction. For example, if you choose Xenos, you get more dialogue options when dealing with or about Xenos races.

The Paragon/Renegade scale in this is replaced with a Puritan/Radical scale. Influence on gameplay is the same, unlocking dialogue options or interrupt events. Possibly influencing the endings.

My vote would be for an X-Com style TBS, but a Dragon Age style (pausable, 3rd person isometric action RPG) would be loads of fun.

Really, though, I will take ANYTHING as long as it's an A-list title, instead of the stuff that comes out -- you know, the titles that should ship with a big warning sticker: "BUY THIS GAME ONLY IF YOU **REALLY** LOVE THE 40K UNIVERSE"

There are lots of possible games I'd be all over; the BFG game recently announced has certainly piqued my interest, so we'll see how that turns out.

However, what I'd really like to see are DoW3, alongside two other ideas; Epic and 40k XCOM.

Here's my idea; Epic-scale game ala Supreme Commander with vast armies, superweapons, the big iconic spreads you see often in 40k art, but as a game. The SupCom model would translate quite well with some aesthic/mechanic differences; trench lines, proper fortifications, units of infantry rather than the basic bots and obvious strong factional differences.

As for an XCOM variant, the license lends itself extremely well to that, either from the Deathwatch angle or Inquisition. For a Deathwatch game, you could have all sorts of interesting customization, via all the chapters being represented by various strengths/weaknesses, and an enormous variety of foes and types of mission based on the xeno. Have the base game focus on threat X, and you can keep adding more via DLC onto the core mechanics; new maps, missions and types of threats. Lends itself to longevity.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Black Crusade or Deathwatch the videogame. Black Crusade especially would be a whole hell of a lot of fun compared to pretty much any other videogame, simply for the shear amount of carnage you could create.

I'd also be down for Dark Millennium, but all multiplayer-only games hosted on servers are inherently flawed and lesser games in that they only exist for a limited amount of time. You can play Skyrim or Mass Effect as much as you want whenever you want, bet it now or three decades from today- but you wouldn't be able to play Eternal Crusade or Dark Millennium after their playerbase inevitably dies off.

But a TES or Mass Effect styled game of any of FFG's RPG's would be immensely enjoyable.

I'd like to see a game whose scale gets the real size of a Galaxy at war across.
Something tactical / Stategical , epic sized, Army Group / division level based.

Why can't we have what we may never be able to afford in real models?

And no silly base building nonsense please. Missions , Campaigns, limited Ressources if it has to be so. Plus Morale could be a factor then. You know, a stat rarely used in 40k...

Definitely wouldn't mind another Space Marine type affair; that's still one of my all-time favourite games in most areas, and nothing much would need changing (mechanically speaking) to do a sequel that was just as fun. Preferably with more types of enemies and more offline game modes (something I wish more games did in general).

An offline RPG, something Skyrim-esque, Inquisitor-themed and with plenty of options for variety in setting, character, plot and gameplay. Perhaps something along similar lines to KotOR II.

Others I wouldn't say no to would be an RTS on console rather than just PC, and I think there's potential for something awesome with an Assassain's Creed/Arkham style game in the setting, maybe playing as an Eldar Ranger/Tau Pathfinder/IG Scout/Assassain character.
