There's a lot of technology that doesn't exist in the warhammer 40k universe, as when it was made originally there were a lot of things that simply didn't exist.

I saw this article on 3D printing organs, and thought that'd be something that could fit really well into the wh40k universe, though I think Polux received a new hand at one point in a similar kind of way, though that was technically 30k.

Is there any other tech you think would fit into the wh40k universe?

Replacement organs are real deal in 40k. Bionics are meant to be only a temporary replacement, allowing vat-growing of replacement organs/limbs/whatever.

And funny thing is, if you want some new technology implemented to 40k, you can do it. There are just insane amounts of DAoT tech to be rediscovered.

I'd LOVE for the 40k story to be advanced to the stage where Orks have er.. 'mastered' the Tellyporta.

I think Grukk Facerippa's formation has the option to Tellyport in a load of Killa Kans, but I'm talking wide scale mayhem with all Orks having the option to Tellyport. Of course, the consequences would range between devastatingly effective and utter disaster, in true Orky fashion.

I want magnetic propulsion weapons in the Imperium.

The great Macro Cannons are said to be based on magnetic propulsion technology, shooting out shells to near light speed (that and the Nova Cannon on the prow of some ships is built the same way)

Imperium had essentially Coil Guns and Railguns long before the Tau. now to bolt one to a tank!!

From what I read bionics is what they use? I've not read many examples of regrowing limbs and organs, bar Polux?

Eisenhorn as well, although Abnett presents it as a money thing for non-Mechanicus types - if you get a replacement part on the Guard's paycheck, you get a very basic augmetic. A better one if you're a specialist, but function over form.

If you're rich or an Imperial Hero, you can get a vat-grown replacement biological hand.

I would like to see more "superhuman" type tech in the Imperium.

I mean the astartes are sweet as they are, but how about someone figures out how to tap into more of the geneseed and makes a sort of 2nd level astartes with super-speed/strength/durability, or even crazier: one with built in psyker powers (invisibility for scouts, telekinetic gun weilding, levitation, fireballs/laser-eyes, whatever!)

In all honesty, I'm actually surprised that the Imperial Knights don't have a Dropship in the vein of Battletech. It'd be perfect for planetary incursions and delivery of the walkers themselves to strategic positions.

Send a medium-sized subluminial transport with couple of Knights, all you need to repair/maintain them, and a bit of modest armament. Toss it at the planet from a larger ship, disgorge the Knights into combat and watch the carnage begin.

The thing about 40k is that no one person can grasp the fullness of it.

Imperium has no need for 2nd class super-human soldiers. Imperium doesn't care about soldier's life, since it's expendable. Super-soldier idea was born about reducing losses, something that Imperium doesn't care about.

Some planets/systems may include some amount of genetic enhancements to their troops, but there's no need for anything widespread.

SM do actually do all of this already, despite the failure of the game to display it.

Actually. There are many mentions of "behind the scenes" supply vehicles akin to old WW2 cargo trucks that moved cargo, personel, fuel, ammo, etc around. Things like Trojans merely shuttling the cargo from established depots behind the lines to the frontlines.

It mostly depends on the planet or Imperial military force (IG, SM, Sisters, etc) that is present. As for frontline wheeled vehicles it again comes down to the planet and circumstances of the military force. There is a possibility of Wheeled Chimera's (or APC in general), or other faster attack vehicles. The forgeworld Tauros comes to mind. But I believe that Wheels are not in common use mostly due to the fact that they cannot cope with nearly every single environment that the machine could be expected to fight in. Rubber (or fancy space-tires or whatever) might melt under the heat of some planets, or crack and become brittle on cold planets and so on. Hence tracks are preferred possibly due to their durability and ability to function regardless of the environment they are employed in.

Land mines.

Honorable mention to night vision gear, squad-level robots, and laser designators, which are all Tau-only, despite widespread claims about "superior" Eldar, Imperial, and Necron technology.

Imperial fliers can have night-vision gear in-game, quite aside from the many fluff mentions of Imperial night-vision gear :p

Necrons also have night-vision gear in the Nebuloscope, although why they don't fit it to anything except Tomb Blades is anyone's guess. Probably because they rarely fight at ranges that would require it. Necrons also have target designators, in the Triarch Stalker, and squad-level robots, in the form of Wraiths, Acanthrites, Spyders and Scarabs, as well as larger-scale robots such as the Tomb Stalker and Tomb Sentinel, and robot artillery in the Pylons (both Sentry and giant variants). So... nyeeeh :p

Space Marines used to have land mines. The Whirlwind could lay them down for some reason, but they were there. Guard also have access to Snare Mines, which are a kind of land mine. Also nyeeeh. :p

they actually do from the sounds of it. the IK novel IIRC mentioned some sort of transport ship. it just doesn't get mentioned. cause 40k doesn't pay too much attention to orbital to surface delivery that isn't thunderhawks or droppods. kinda like how 90% of all the dropships described in battletech are mech carriers despite the fact that a conservitive estimate places 5 times as many tanks and 7 times as many infantry on the battlefields

Which fliers? Past searchlights, I don't see anything in the IG or SM codexes suggesting such.

Based on their description, snare mines don't seem to be mines so much as snares. Land mines disable and kill people, snares trip and capture people.

"Used to" being the operative word. I'm guessing the Forge World that made the cluster mines was eaten by tyranids and not a single person in the million worlds of the Imperium has figured out how to build yet another device the USA is capable of making en masse.

Hadn't read the 7th ed Necron codex. Admittedly, that's because I haven't played a game in 7th ed rules. Formations have largely killed the allure of 40k for me. Even moreso than before, it seems like everything's about throwing the most cheese onto the table.

Conquest is still pretty fun, though.

No, snare mines are triggered by snares, hence their name. They blow up all the same.

Fun fact of the day. Italy actually produces more land mines than any other country in the world.

Anyway, OT, I would like to see one, just ONE Space Marine flyer that is aerodynamic enough to stay in the air. That bugs me so much.
